Something that I forgot to mention: it's not because it says it has very few calories that will help you lose weight. read the labels and make sure that your low calorie product isn't loaded with sodium, trans fat, colestherol, sugar, carbs. It's best to eat something that has more calories and it's healthier than low calories full of bad stuff in it :P

All good advice so far :)

I would add, try to up your exercise before you reduce/change your food intake. You need energy to exercise and in my opinion increasing your exercise will increase your well being and is likely to give you a more positive attitude to dietry change.

In addition to an exercise programme, try to work in some little extras, like getting out of a lift before your floor and walking up the steps, parking far away from the store etc. Walking more will always help, no matter what else you try.

When it comes to the dietry chance, don't make any sudden huge changes if you expect to stick with it for a while.

Good luck with whatever you try :D

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

I don't recommend the raw food diet though, did anyone see that revolting family on Wife Swap who eat raw meat? I can't understand how the Dr they went to see didn't point out some of the more obvious dangers of doing something like that...oh well.

Hi,

General topic everyone. When looking for a new diet how do you go about it?

Adervisiment

word and mouth

leads

Help me please with your answers.

For my new career.

Thanks Kath.

I'd start with an honest assessment of my dietary lifestyle as well as how active I am. Then I'd read as much as I could about nutrition and exercise to make better choices with my lifestyle.

...is this a marketing gig?

Oops, didn't read the OP properly.

Ok, in that case I don't look for diets so my answer is None of the above.

*sigh* I hate the word "DIET"

Being a diabetic and living with PCOS has meant a lifetime change of the way I eat. I'm more conscious now than I was a few years ago, mainly because it's not just me. I mean, I make sure my daughter eats properly, I just didn't care too much for me (i.e. rarely ate, rarely exercised) but after today (diabetic education) I've renewed my determination. Not only do I want to live a long life and someday be a gramma, but I have this incredible man I recently married...I wanna grow old with him. :)

I watch the carbs...45g a day. I watch the fats...sparingly. I don't count calories and I don't count fat grams. I never use refined sugars (diabetics aren't really supposed to, y'know) and I cook from scratch as much as possible. For diabetics, it's not so much *what* you eat, but how much you eat.

Will this be easy? Heck no, but I have an amazing husband and an amazing daughter as well.

That's great, Karen! :star: I remember a body builder back in the 80's who is diabetic - Tim Belknap. He was in amazing shape. There's also a famous Filipino singer - Gary Valenciano who has type 1 diabetes - he's over 40 but is in tip top shape.
