I follow the South Beach Diet when I'm watching what I eat...and I actually feel much better on it as well!

The south beach diet TV dinners arent bad. I like the turkey bacon wrap meal.

I don't eat any of the prepackaged meals because they're loaded with enough sodium to choke a horse.

and many of them are only on Phase 3 of the diet, which is maintennance...so they're not ideal for weight loss....you won't gain, but there are prolly better things one could eat if one was concerned with optimizing weight loss

Lol, sorry to rain on the parade! I just have happened to done a lot of research on the diet & tbh, I stay away from all the SBD pre packaged meals

When looking for a new diet how do you go about it?

Many people start diets from word of mouth - people they know have been on certain diets and they worked (or didn't!). Many others go solely from advertising - including TV ads & talk shows, newspaper/magazine articles, celebrity endorsed diets, etc. Personally I wouldn't trust spam mails though. The biggest thing may be hearing about it enough from different sources. Personally I try my best to go only by the don't diet, eat healthily and control portions method. (Yah sure, mostly it is eat a whole pizza, eat only apples for next 3 days, gorge on chocolate, eat only salad for next few days.:help:)

I'm a big fan of sparkpeople.com, it offers most of the same services as weight watchers or ediets, but it's free! And I like that it has a really balanced healthy attitude, and encourages looking at it as a new healthy lifestyle rather than just a diet.

I am anti-diet because I've seen too many friends screw up their metabolisms following the Bad Science Diet Fad® of the week.

Step One:

Take your measurements. Toss the scale.

Step Two:

Cut out all sugary beverages. No sodas, no flavored mochafrappasweetbombcinos, no non 100% juice. Water, tea, regular old coffee (cream & sugar okay, just go easy on it.)

Step Three:

Whatever you pig out on, don't buy, or buy in those small minipacks. I have a weakness for tortilla chips and salsa. So I don't buy it more than once a month.

Step Four:

Replace one of your junk food snacks with an apple or other fruit.

Step Five:

Exercise. Lift weights, and actually push yourself when you do cardio.

Step Six:

After six weeks, check your measurements. If they're not going down fast enough for your liking, start kicking the processed food ####### out of your diet and eat on smaller plates.

I believe the word diet is a draw back. Diets are made to be broken. Just take stock of yourself, take tips from others or books and design your own process. We all knows whats healthy but we know more what we like. Something like a good heart diet or diabetic style seems to be reasonable. Watch portion size, exercise, I also just heard a doctor on tv saying that its false about the water drinking vs weight loss. They still advised the 8 glasses but not claiming it to cause the weight loss.

Hmm... I've never ever ever 'looked' for a diet... if I want to lose a bit of weight I just lay off the unhealthy/fattening/mega-calorific stuff (we all know what that is, surely?) and replace it with all the virtuous stuff I should have been eating all along. That and actually doing some exercise for once in my life seems to work every time. Most diets I've read about in newspapers, magazines etc, all seem the same.... 'on this AMAZING diet you can eat AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE!!! You don't have to limit yourself AT ALL!!! Just so long as you stick to the following foods: (insert long list of salad items) you can STUFF YOUR FACE!!! Treats are even allowed, in moderation - 1/4 of a square of chocolate fortnightly! Buy the AMAZING diet book, now, only £14.99!!!'

Okay, so I'm a bit of a cynic, but... they do all (apart from low-carb ones and the cabbage soup-type ones) pretty much seem to say 'eat vegetables! avoid lard! do exercise!', just worded slightly differently.

2005 - We met

2006 - Filed I-129F

2007 - K-1 issued, moved to US, completed AOS (a busy year, immigration-wise)

2009 - Conditions lifted

2010 - Will be naturalising. Buh-bye, USCIS! smile.png

I stay away from all the SBD pre packaged meals

Those pre-packaged meals rip me up. Between all the sodium and preservatives, I always will end up with a belly ache if I eat them.

A friend of mine did the LA Weight loss and looks great! She's kept the weight off for over a year too. :star:
