Hey guys, i know all of you know all the information regarding this. But I need to know exactly where to start.

I got married on February 10, 2006 and I'm only filing for a petition now. I am an american citizen, my husband is in the philippines and he's never gotten a visa to the US before. He applied back maybe 15 years ago, but got denied. I would like to know if the K-1 visa is best or CR-1 visa. My goal is to get him here quicker. As far as time lines are concerned I heard that CR-1 is faster. but i know that you guys all know the real deal, so what is your advise.

Thank you so much!

Jenna

I'm sorry i meant k-3 spouse visa vs. cr-1

Hi Jenna. The K-3 visa is a lot faster than the CR-1, some people might get their I-130 approved faster but I've noticed on their timelines that it takes an average of 1 year, unlike the K-3 which might take about 6 months or so. If you want him here quickly, then your best choice is the K-3 route. At least, that's what I'm doing with my husband. ;)

Good luck!

Do the K3 this gives you the option to file both petitions on behalf of your husband, the I-129F and the

I-130 aka( cr-1).

Often petitions are approved at different time frames and you can choose what route to persue depending on which of your petitions is processing faster for your particulal case.

I hope that made sense.

First, file the I-130 Immigration Petition. Within 1-2 weeks, you will receive a receipt notice. When you receive this letter,

send in the I-129F Non-Immigrant Petition for Spouse.

The K-3 visa (I-129F - Non Immigration) took me and my husband about 6 months until his interview date (March 27, 2007).

Our I-130 and I-129F were approved the same day (December 8, 2006), but I think because of the new visa processing

that took effect in the end of October, instead of the I-130 being sent to overseas embassy, it is being held onto until the

spouse arrives in the USA with the I-129F and then the spouse files the Adjustment of Status... receiving greencard more quickly.

Once you receive your receipt notice for the I-129F, start preparing the K-3 documents. If you know which embassy your spouse

will be using, you may try going to their website and see if they have instructions/forms for the K-3 visa and/or email the visa unit

of that embassy and ask them what the process is for K-3.

If you have any more questions, do not hesitate to ask! Good luck!
