Separation of church and state people...smh. You don't like it? Quit your job, find a new one. Stand up for your morals that way.

You didn't need to say this here, I'm pretty sure your comments gave it away a long time ago...

I have nothing against them, it's just I don't encounter them in my personal of family life.

It must be my Southern Baptist roots and living in the Bible Belt..........

I know homos in Dallas, Corpus Cristi and a good friend of mine used to go to a Catholic Church that did all homosexual services in Houston. The gays are there, you're just scaring them off.

My uncle and his husband (now recognized as such in Texas!) are both Texans, from El Paso and Galveston respectively, and have lived in a completely out relationship for over 30 years in Galveston. It happens.

I feel the same way and it's something way too long overdue. One of my siblings is gay and we had to pull every trick of out of that hat to help his partner - now spouse - stay in the country legally, so they could build their lives together. It was ironic and I have always felt it was a slap in the face of all gay couples out there, that other couples such as myself and my spouse could simply stay together with the stroke of a pen, and a couple of signatures on a piece of paper. On a broader context, many here don't realize that marriage brings with it a countless number of civil and legal benefits that many take for granted, benefits which were denied to our LGBT brethren until a few days ago. This last weekend was a very special one for all of us. This past 4th of July we came closer to being the nation the founding fathers envisioned. There is no doubt they would have been stunned and perplexed by America today but there is no doubt they would be exceedingly proud of how far our country has progressed in terms of human and civil rights.

I've been out for a bit so I haven't really been able to comment on this event like I wanted to, so here goes.

This is a landmark decision that us Americans see far too little of here in the United States. Its such a massive and positive stroke for the rights of American's wanting to pursue their happiness. I'm very excited for my homosexual friends and family. You now have the right to pursue your heart's desire just like any other couple. A friend of mine in college came out to me and a few others and it was a changing experience. I kept thinking about how they had to feel ashamed or hide their feelings for someone they love. Falling in love is one of the best human experiences and nothing should keep consenting adults from pursuing that love on any level. So congrats to all of you that have seen the surge in anti-homosexual amendments/laws/propaganda within the last decade. This is a great example that things and people can and will change. If you'd have asked me in 2005 if this could ever be a possibility for the entire country, I would have thought not in my lifetime. But things have changed so quickly. This was not just a one off decision, this was an inevitable decision strengthened by the ever growing support of marriage equality on a level that still completely surprises and inspires me. America is a better example of what it strives to be for this decision. Liberty and justice for ALL!! Congrats again to all, you deserve this, and know that many of us stand no longer behind you but beside you as brothers and sisters.
