This quote from Posner:

THIS. Posner is no bleeding heart. Enunciating that marriage is a right extended to both gay and straight couples by the Constitution is actually a conservative point of view. Marriage is a conservative institution that helps to shore up families and property rights.

Yes, it is. I don't remember many conservative opinion pieces that I agreed more with than this one from Ted Olson. It's been about 5 years since he penned it but it's still as good a read today as it was then.

It IS affordable though.

1. If the individual participant in question would stop espousing the idea that his life would be improved by adding more women and that homosexuals should be campaigning for his right to marry as many women as he wants--only women he holds to a very racist ideal--then he wouldn't get discussed.

2. Maybe the problem is that specific participant and not, in fact, the rest of us. How is his racism 'family friendly?' Just because he's idealizing one specific ethnic group doesn't make it not racist and racism cannot possibly be family friendly.

1. People are free to ignore any posts that they consider to be ridiculous or immature and to hold themselves to a higher standard, if they believe that they're above such posts. People are not free to tread on the VJ TOS, not even in response to what they consider to be ridiculous, immature, or a violation of the TOS.

Removal of the posts was the least severe of several moderation actions that could have been taken.

2. If anyone treads on the VJ TOS, report it.

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

Texas AG says clerks can cite religious objections to deny marriage licenses to gay couples.

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2015/06/29/texas-ag-says-clerks-can-cite-religious-objections-on-gay-marriage-most-states/

Is there a link to county clerks denying marriage licenses to people who are divorced? If they are to be consistent with their Christian beliefs, these clerks would be denying marriage licenses to someone who's divorced. According to the followng link, Jesus said that God does not permit divorce:

http://www.cbn.com/spirituallife/cbnteachingsheets/Divorce_And_Remarriage.aspx

If these clerks deny marriage licenses to same-sex couples by claiming religious objections yet give marriage licenses to divorcees, then their religious objections are fraudulent and they are simply homophobes.

Linda Barnette, Grenada County clerk resigns over SCOTUS same-sex marriage decision. Here's a snippet from the article:

Grenada County voter Lue Harbin said she is disappointed in Barnette's decision. She said she has voted for Barnette in every election since she got out of the Army in 2001.

"I was kind of shocked, I don't know her personally but I never thought she was that way," Harbin said. "She's given marriage licenses to people who have committed adultery and stolen and lied, and when their parents haven't approved... it's just crazy the way she's thinking. That's her job and she's not there to judge people."

Resignation is good. At least this one is walking the walk. The others will fold like cheap suits - they're all hat and no cattle.

And she deserves our respect for that action. Anyone who feels they can no longer fill the duties their jobs call for should do the same. It is only fair for them and those who they swore to serve.

Who here thinks it's ok for states to continue to thumb their nose at federal law by decriminalizing marijuana?

I hope you're not equating this with some states (through their governors) thumbing their noses at the constitution (same-sex is a constitutional right).

These people really are that oblivious?

“I am grateful that the First Amendment continues to protect the sincerely held religious beliefs of public servants like me. That has not changed since last Friday,” Lang said.

I so wish these morons came upon a Muslim server at a restaurant who will refuse to serve them non-halal meat items for that would violate the sincerely held religious beliefs of the server.

They're permitted to serve and prepare it. Just not consume it. I learned that from my McManager days.
