Isn't it great to see these people waste taxpayer money? I can't wait to see them start getting fired for failure to do their jobs. If they can't do their jobs, they need to resign.

Met in 2010 on a forum for a mutual interest. Became friends.
2011: Realized we needed to evaluate our status as friends when we realized we were talking about raising children together.

2011/2012: Decided we were a couple sometime in, but no possibility of being together due to being same sex couple.

June 26, 2013: DOMA overturned. American married couples ALL have the same federal rights at last! We can be a family!

June-September, 2013: Discussion about being together begins.

November 13, 2013: Meet in person to see if this could work. It's perfect. We plan to elope to Boston, MA.

They won't loose their job, Not after the Attorney General issued his statement. Remember this is Texas and we play by our own set of rules.

As far as wasting Tax Payers money, They are the people that are elected into office by the people and for the people. I sure Texas has lots of extra funds. Texas is luring companies into Texas from other states right and left, It is pretty amazing to see what they have done.

God Bless Texas

The US Constitution is the supreme law of the land - including Texas. What you see happening in your state is a round of political grandstanding. The Texas AG can issue all the statements he wants to issue, they mean nothing if they go against the supreme law of the land. Lawlessness will not stand in this nation and every county clerk in Texas will issue marriage licenses to same sex couples or be replaced by a county clerk who will. That's how this will play out. You can't see that yet but do remember my words. The marriage equality resistance is - to put it into a former VPs words - in its last throes. It's useless and will cost Texas taxpayers a pretty penny but hey, not like I really care how you people waste your money.

You do realize that spending money wildly, by wasting taxpayer money, is bad for the state even if currently there is a budget surplus? Whether Texas currently has money from having stolen business from other state economies (not by making their own new businesses), this is still a massive waste of taxpayer money.

In the end, these people can and WILL lose their jobs for having refused to do their jobs. Just give it time. That might mean waiting until the next election when their opponents (rightfully) point out how much taxpayer time and money these people have waited, but they will lose their jobs. They WILL be fined. The attorney general has offered them lawyers because he cannot protect them. Lawyers are not infallible, especially when elected people are refusing to uphold the constitution--and religious liberty does not protect an official sworn to uphold the constitution when they refuse to uphold the constitution.

Texas is rich in money right now. We didn't get hit back in 2008 to 2011 like other states. And right now Texas is flowing with cash. So let them fight all they want, it the people backing this.

Remember Texas doesn't bow to Obama and his policies, Texas Federal Judge is the one who put a stop to Obama wanting to grant work visa to like 5 million illegal aliens, and before that Texas Governor Rick Perry decided to secure the Texas / Mexico border with national guard since the white house wouldn't do their job, and said Texas would pay for it themselves if they had to

It doesn't matter how much money you have, elected officials STILL SHOULD NOT BE WASTING IT.

Texas is falling on gay marriage as we speak. The great state of Texas is granting me healthcare through my wife, a public employee, as of tomorrow.

Then you should get on your knees and kiss the land that you live on in the Great State of Texas.

You are lucky that you moved to Texas, with its' great economic benefits and low cost of living and great weather.

I would have been much luckier if my wife had been able to move to Canada, with its actually affordable healthcare, human rights and cultural consideration that different doesn't mean evil. Unfortunately, we're stuck here until she finishes grad school. Then, hopefully, we'll be marketable enough to move to a country that has a single payer system.

Texas is no better than the rest of the US. And the rest of the US is on the same ranks on dozens of lists as many developing nations. How many lists does it have to be on before it actually counts as a developing nation and not a developed one? US supremacy is a myth, at best.

You're swerving. This isn't about immigration or Obama or Breitbart. This is about the US Constitution, equal protection under the law and a Supreme Court that has ruled on an issue. That ruling stands and it applies to every office in every city and every county in every state of the union.

On a side note, it's quite comical that you celebrate a certain order of a federal judge but think that the order of the Supreme Court is something that can simply be ignored.

Reality is sinking in with the county clerks. Ever so slowly. But this is Texas so no surprise there.

However, last night Costin decided she would issue the licenses.

She released a statement saying "The costs of defending such a lawsuit and the potential for damages would be substantial. I cannot do that to our taxpayers."

Texas and some ignorant Texans are trying to fight the Federal government on the issue of same-sex marriage rights.

Just like in the American civil war, they will be defeated. And humiliated. History repeats itself. Trust that.

What does any of that have to do with marriage equality? People are getting married all over Texas.

My guess is that you've been watching way too many reruns of Dallas...
