Clinton said South Carolina should remove the Confederate flag from its Statehouse grounds, in part because the nation should unite under one banner while at war.

"I think about how many South Carolinians have served in our military and who are serving today under our flag and I believe that we should have one flag that we all pay honor to, as I know that most people in South Carolina do every single day," the New York senator said.

"I personally would like to see it removed from the Statehouse grounds."

On that note...I've heard rumors that President Bush, Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper and Mexican President Felipe Calderón are all looking into forming something called the "North American Union." I suppose it'd be a copy of the European Union in a way.

I don't see the point of it though. I mean, we already have trade and plenty of immigration (legal and illegal) between the countries of the U.S., Canada and Mexico. Furthermore, while Mexico might want this, I really don't see the United States and Canada giving up their sovereignty to create something like this -- the people of both countries would practically revolt.

She is right. Southern 'pride' is just a facade for being nostalgic about the good 'ol days when good ol' southern white folk kept the black man in his proper place. Take that flag down and piss all over it.

This topic caught my eye in particular as i have lived in SC my entire 30 years. Whenever i read about someone not from SC trying to remove the flag it really enflames me. The flag issue is our issue, it has nothing to do with any other state, and the decision to keep or remove the flag should be decided by the citizens of SC alone. It just shows how desperate politicians will stoop to win votes by focusing on a local issue rather than more pressing concerns.

For me personally, i could care less what they do with the flag. 90% of South Carolinians will never actually go to Columbia and see it, much less stick around to be reminded of what they think it represents. The NAACP is just one big hate group who won't rest until whites are brought down to the level that blacks were centuries ago. They pressured the removal of the flag from the capital dome and when we capitulated it still wasn't enough because once you give in to bullies, they win. If the NAACP truely wanted all races to be seen as equal then they'd stop playing the victim card and work on improving the quality of all people and not just their own race. Off all my many black friends, not one supports the NAACP and their extremist political agenda.

That is a bit harsh, but not far from the truth. The NAACP is much more subtle and is often portrayed as positive in the media, whereas the KKK and other white brotherhood organizations are always portrayed as negative due to their physically abusive past. I think society would be better off without any of those organizations.
