Oh dear, I didn't send my original birth certificate with my I129F- I didn't know Ankara required it. All I sent was a notarized front and back copy. Does anyone know how I might send this/ if it is possible to pre-empt and RFE?

No where did I read that certain countries required originals. Maybe it's different for the I130?

Ankara does not need your original birth certificate, they only need the originals from the finance/spouse receiving the visa. I brought along to the interview my original birth certificates and divorce papers, but they did not request to see them, they said they did not get a translated copy of my husbands birth certificate and I had a certified copy of that with us also (brought certified copies of all the documents he sent...just in case). I guess it does not hurt to call and find out but they mainly use your info to process the application here and use his info at the embassy.

Good Luck,

Michele and Omer

I assumed she was asking in terms of whether she has to send "any" original documents to the NVC...at all....for an I-129f. But, maybe she was just asking about "her" certificates etc.......in which case you are right. The originals are only required from the beneficiary.

But, in general, she does not have to worry about sending ANY originals to the NVC for an I-129f ,correct? (neither from her husband as well)

The requirements for the K-3 and K-1 are different than for the I-130..................in that she doesn't have to mail any originals to the NVC. It all gets taken care of from Ankara?

To summarize:

NVC does not really process the I129F, maybe security checks, then forwarded - no documents are sent to NVC for I129F.

NVC does some processing of the I130 - some documents are sent to NVC for the I130, different documents depending on the beneficiary's country.

In Ankara's case, as must be with a few other countries............it's more than just "some" documents. For the I-130 we are doing, I would characterize it as more like "all" documents. "Everything" pertaining to our case, had to be sent to the NVC. Almost nothing was left out. In fact, I think the only document my wife will be bringing on her own, to the embassy, when she has her interview.........will most likely just be the results from the medical. (and actually...I am not even sure if she brings that.....or the doctor that she chooses from the list given to us, will foward it to the embassy, himself).
