Can anyone comment as to the value of wife changing name upon marriage? Will this be looked on benevolently by USCIS as evidence of a "real" marriage? On the other hand, will it cause problems with the alien's identification as passport will still be in maiden name? Any aspects to consider for this action?

It's normal your wife change her family name since she's married to you in filing her adjustment of status. Her alien's identification will remain the same even she's using her married name, one of the proof that you gonna send to the USCIS is a copy of your marriage certificate

Name change doesn't prove a real marriage, and I'm sure USCIS has seen plenty of cases where the wife chose not to change her name for valid reasons (and those reasons might be asked for at an interview) but was still able to provide plenty of proof of a valid relationship outside of sharing the husbands last name. It's a personal choice, a real relationship can be proven with many other pieces of evidence.

I changed my name and it hasn't caused any problems for me. You just put the new married name on the forms and put the maiden name in where required.

Just have all pertinent documents for the name changes when you travel or attend an immigrations interview.

Thanks to all for advice. What you say makes sense. Just worried that life will become difficult with name change, though that is what we want to do.
