Hi,

I received my initial letter for my appointment time for the 27th of July at 9:00 am. I then received a new letter changing the appointment to 13:00.

I have already booked a train and hotel, which are now useless. My hotel isn't needed because there's a train I can get from Newcastle to get there on time, and the hotel is non-refundable. My train tickets are also booked and would leave London before the interview was over. They are also non-refundable or changeable.

I've tried contacting the embassy through the switchboard, but I'm not getting through to a human.

Does anyone have any advice, or has anyone been in a similar situation?

I used the online contact form on the Embassy website, and they sent me a letter stating that unfortunately all July appointments have been changed. They neglected to reference the train or hotel in the response though?

I'm really stressed out. I don't have the money to go and book another train right now.

Check your return train ticket, mostly they are open return times so you can catch a train back to Newcastle at any time that day. If you have to do a refund on the tickets it's pretty painless and quick and usually just costs a tenner admin charge. Check out the site where you bought your tickets for more info on this.

I would suggest keeping the outward journey and hotel as it is so you can get to the Embassy early and wait/queue up to get in at the front of the line. I was out of there by 1:30 pm for my 1pm appointment (second in the queue) so it's well worth getting there early and hanging around a while.

I think that's my best option. I don't have an open return, so I would have to change it to later.

Here's me trying to be organized and booking in advanced so it costs less :P
