Hi all,

My interview is on July 15th here in Sydney and I am in the process of gathering my police records.

I was wondering am I required to get a police certificate fro the USA as I lived there on a J1 visa previously back in 2013 - 2014?

No, you're not required to get a police certificate from the US. I was there on J1 and F1 and I even asked the embassy and they said no. You only need police certificate from Australia and any other country apart from the US that you've lived in for an extended time.

The U.S. Do their own background checks, they won't do background checks from other countries so that's why you have to do your own.

To be exact, it is countries lived in for longer than 12 months.

The USA you will not need a police check from.

Just Australia + any other country bar USA that you've lived in for 12 months or longer.
