N400 and i90 Background checks the same?

Hi Guys,

Firstly, I apologize if this same question has been asked a million times before. I attempted to search, but didn't find it.

When we do our biometrics for N400, is the background check conducted the same one as the i90?

The reason for asking is because it would give me an idea of how long to wait for interview notification because i know the time it took to finish i90 (GC Renewal) background check and get approval notice before receiving the new card (less than 12 months ago).
