Note: Texas is a cheap place to live . . . and we have lots of immigrants down here, hehe, legal and illegal!!!

Texas is, overall, less expensive to live than California, that much is true, but where you live within Texas and where within each city makes a huge difference. In Houston, for instance, you can expect to pay a lot of money if you want to live in River Oaks or near the Galleria.

And yes...unfortunately we have an illegal immigration problem.

That's the same for just about any city in any state, no? There are always the more and less desirable (read more or less expensive) neighborhoods to choose from.

Oh yeah, absolutely. I was just pointing out that Texas isn't necessarily "cheap to live" in. ;)

No sh_t? The annual property taxes on my house in Houston have more than doubled in the 13 years I have lived there. Too bad my paycheck hasn't doubled to cover it.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

US Congresswoman Barbara Jordan (D-TX)

Testimony to the House Immigration Subcommittee, February 24, 1995
