Do I have to have all the papers i sent to USCIS before for the interview?

Hello,

I just randomly read that should make 2 copies for the papers that sent to USCIS before. I sent it 2 months ago, done with the biometric things already, now waiting for EAD and interview notice. ANd i did not make any copy of that yet. Should i fill in and print all of it again, collecting things like birth certificate again, ...for the interview in the future? What should i need to bring for the interview? By the way, my husband is the joint sponsor with his dad, so should i have to ask his dad to print his information like his birth certificate, W-2, passport copy, tax return copy for the interview?

Please help, i just need to make sure so i can prepare it as soon as i can before the interview. Thank you !

You should have sent a copies of documents, such as your birth certificate and marriage certificate, when you filed. You will need to bring the originals to the interview and the officer will ask to see the original and might mark on the copy in the file that they seen the original.

In terms of I-864 (Affidavit of Support) documents, I brought copies of what I had with me and the officer never asked for them. I inquired about it since I was near the line, and she said that has already been looked at and approved by the National Benefits Center before it is shipped to the field office. If it has been a while since you file your paperwork and when the interview is then you might want to get an updated I-864 with documents and bring it to the interview. In terms of your father-in-laws I-864 paperwork, he should contact the IRS and get a tax transcript for 2014, and 2013, 2012. He doesn't need his birth certificate since he has a US passport, since the copy of the biographical page of the passport proves who he is and his status. Your husband should do the same, get copies of his tax transcript from the IRS.

Tax transcripts from the IRS are free. You can get them online, request them in-person at an IRS assistance center, or call to have them mailed or faxed to you.

Thank you so much, this is really helpful. We have the original of our marriage lisence, about my husband birth certificate, we will ask his dad for his original since his dad keeps his family original stuffs. About my original birth certificate, its in Vietnam, but i have another copy which there is a stamp saying its true to the original one and was translated into English too. Is it fine?

About the tax return, we intend to print it all again and ask his dad about his 3 latest years tax return, i think its not a big deal.

Another concern is should i have to print all the forms which i sent to them before and bring to the interview, Or just the original papers is enough. And photos, usually, what kind of photos and should we have to print the conversations we had on social media before too?

No social media conversations because you are living together in the same house now. Some photos with family, receipts from trips you have

taken together, some co mingling evidence such as a joint bank account, gym card, something that shows both of you live at the same

address. search this site for suggestions of what people take to interviews. No, the forms don't have to be filled out again for the interview.

Copies of forms are always good to have in case you need to go over them

if you get a RFE for something and to refer to consistent data throughout the entire immigration journey.

RFE=Request for evidence. That is what they send you if you haven't send in what you needed to.
