Marriage certificate: hometown or current residence

To get a marriage certificate do you need to go to the Vietnamese citizens hometown or do you do it were they currently live? My Fiancee lives in HCMC but her hometown is in Long An. Thanks.

Considering your options?

I am decided on the CR1 now. Going to try and get the marriage certificate as soon as we can. My family and some friends will be here this fall for the traditional wedding. I am actually looking forward to staying in Vietnam longer, I just wish I could make more money here so I can pay back student loans faster.

Has anyone had experience getting a marriage certificate in Long An? I working on getting my Fiancee's proof of single papers. Not only do they need her ID and family book, but they want my passport, ID, and family book. Of course I don't have a family book, and I'm not sure why they want and ID in addition to a passport. Anyway they said it will take about a month to get the single papers for her.

Coffee money goes a long way in Vietnam, especially when you are dealing with bureaucrAPs!
