Question: The CR1 case was completed on 2/15/2007, but it says to wait for up to 8 weeks for further instructions? I keep reading in the forums that once they hear case is completed, they also hear that the case has been forwarded to the embassy? Any reason, I have to wait for up most 8 weeks for further instructions?

My spouse K-3 interview is on 3/22/2007. I was hoping they would send out the CR1 completed case to the embassy so my wife can go and try to get the CR1 interview instead.

you heard that right once the case is completed they forward it to the corresponding embassy , but you see one thing u did not take into consideration is that they have to review for technical errors that might be in the case ... now wat i think wat they r doing ur case is tht they r reviewing it for any omissions or errors , once that is done they will forward the file to the embassy and and a new cr-1 interview will be scheduled , at this point if i were you i would have forgotten about filing i-130 and have had stuck to k-3 the non immigrant visa :) but lets hope for the best , my wishes for u and ur spouse good luck :)

Thanks for the info. I still don't understand why it would take them 8 weeks to review. It is true that K-3 can bring the spouse, but keep in mind that you will have start kind of all over for the Adjustment of Status and it can take months to years. Also, I want my wife to go to college, and I do not want to be paying 3 times the tuition. A K-3 will make her an international student. That's besides the point. But since the CR1 is completed, I would rather have the interview for the CR1 instead of the K-3.

I hope those 8 weeks turn in to 2 weeks. That would give plenty of time to go to the embassy and ask to swap the interviews.

Not sure where the first responder came up with the information but your case has already been reviewed at the NVC. That is what they have been doing for the last month or so. The recording is a standard recording. Mine and others said the same thing. According to the NVC, cases are sent out in bulk. I have noticed that for the I-130's in Colombia they are usually sent to Bogota in about a week. It may vary from embassy to embassy. From there it is logged in at the embassy and an interview scheduled. Each embassy has different times and so on so cannot comment on your embassy. Try calling 202-663-1541 press 0 for operator and ask the lady that answers what your case status is and give her your case number. She will tell you if the embassy has received and if you have an interview date or not. I would give it a week or so. My completion date is the same as yours, 2/15. I will call next Monday to see if it has been mailed and received. They should have the packet by your March interview. Maybe they will switch it to the Cr-1 interview for you. I have seen this done in the past. Good luck.

Mine only took about 2 weeks to transfer to the Kingston Embassy. I know they have my file too because I call them every week to see if my husband has an interview. Everytime they call and say this for Mr. John Doe and I see yes. So it doesn't take that long. I would start calling or emailing your embassy in 3 weeks time. Email is Jamaica don't work so thats why I have to call. Its called the soon come attitude.

Hope this helps. :star:

Hi everybody

The CR1 case was completed on 2/15/2007, but it says to wait for up to 8 weeks for further instructions?

Our case was completed on the same day as you (ie 02/15/2007), there is no update in the USCIS case online !! when my husband called the NVC, the recorder said EXACTLY the same, ie "up to 8 weeks for further instructions"!!!

we are wondering what's going on!!! sometimes I wonder if it's not related to my I-129F administrative process in Washington DC due to 221(g) which is still pending till today (4 months 1/2) :crying:

Do you think that if I have an CR-1 interview prior to the end of the I-129F AP, will I be quite sure that i'll be issued an other AP for CR-1??

plz tell me what you think, or what others experienced ... i'm really worried

many thanks in advance

If you haven't noticed already there is no rush in any of this! The 8 weeks you are getting is standard, it may take that long it may not. Patience is the key. It took ours 2 weeks for it to be registered that it had arrived in London, then another few weeks for them to actually admit it had arrived.
