...goes to me!

So I get home from work, get out of the car, leaving it running because we had somewhere else to go...totally on autopilot I flick the power locks on...so the car is locked, still running, no way of getting it open as we have no spare key...sh*t!!!

So I call the police, they laugh at me and say they're sending an officer out. Who arrived and scratches his head, then declares there's nothing he can do for me tonight, as the police car his tools are in has broken down 30 miles away in Albert Lea....double sh*t!!!

He suggests we call Action Towing. I call Action Towin who say they will be here in 15 mins. Car is still running.

I go indoors after my crappy day at work, burst into tears, towing man arrives and I hand him a soggy check for $25 and then he goes ahead and opens my stupid car doors - really quickly actually!

Car - 1. Me - 0.

Wasted Gas - $3 (approx)

Towing Man Cost - $25

Look on my husband's face - priceless...

You sure can tell a good story girl!

I have done this too. My shining moment occurred when I was 16 and at a boyfriend's house (not supposed to be there, told mom I was going to the movies with a girlfriend). So I locked the keys in the car, dead of winter in Connecticut, no one home at the boyfriend's house (why I was not supposed to be there). I eventually sucked it up and called mom who brought the spare key and a grounding.

Last week, the hubby decided to be sweet and warm the car up for me while I got ready for work (New Hampshire winters SUCK!!!). Yup, he locked the keys in. Luckily, I have a spare key so crisis averted :)

Maybe now owould be a good time to go out and get a spare key copied.. even if your car has the computer chip in the key (ours does) it will s-till work to unlock the doors... I know i have found spare keys to be more useful than the cost more often than I can say.. And i'm sure ive done worse.. it seems that once i somehow threw our (one and only) car key in the trash.. and yep it had the computer chip in it!! sucked.. thank goodness for AAA since they towed the car to the dealership to get another key programmed.. still cost like 70 bucks to get the key made..

Jayjay,

You are not alone. It made me feel better that others do things like me! :D Last year I raced to answer the phone when I got home from work and forgot to put the handbrake on in the car. Needless to say, the car being on a steep driveway rolled backwards down the hill narrowly missing the house across the road. I tried to stop it by opening the car door like that would help! A tree finally stopped it!

The highest price i ever had to pay for a tow service to have my car unlocked was $85. Lucky for me just the radio was playing not the engine running for three hours happened after my lunch break at my job.
