Receipt number not recognize by USCIS.

I was checking my case status today after having sent out our application for removal of conditions last January. I went on the uscis website and it doesn't recognize my receipt number and I am not certain about what to do to find out what's going on. I already called their costumer service line and wasn't able to get a real person on the line.

I had the same issue as well when I filed i90. I called the hotline and spoke to a Tier 2. They just assured me that my case was still pending and would "hear" something once its approved. They were right though. I was able to see my case status after approval (post decision activity).

It's not normal but quite a few experienced the same so I guess we were just unlucky.

I guess you have to call again and insist on talking to a real person to get your case number.

But if you filed in vermont, then it is too early to hear anything about your case.

Please reread your NOA letter. If states right there on the letter that you have to wait for the biometrics form and enter the number from the biometrics form.

I'm going to ask you a silly question, @Cheezees. The biometrics firm you are speaking of is the one with the date, time and place you are supposed to show up to get your picture taken and the fingerprints taken? Or is it a form you received later on?

I'm sorry, I haven't been to Visa Journey in a very long time. Guess now that I'm with my husband, I'm not so concern with timing

I've been to the States for a couple years now but my husband and I are going to Argentina to visit in December and I'm hoping to have my green card by then. I see you got the I130 approved fairly quick. Congratulations!

Yes, that is the biometrics form. First you receive the NOA form (Notice Of Action) that says they received your application. Then you receive the biometrics form (to show up for your biometrics). After that, depending on the strength of your case of if you are randomly chosen, you may receive an RFE (Request For Evidence) form to submit more info. The majority of people DO NOT get RFEs and an even smaller minority then get an interview letter. Lastly, you will receive the decision form: approval of denial.

The number you have to enter comes from the biometrics form. However, do not depend on USCIS for timely updates on your case even if you sign up for them. They are spotty at best.

EXACT same situation here, the extension letter says to use the new receipt number on the ASC letter. Was VERY disappointed as our case status is still "We received your case". Has been that since December.

If this makes anyone feel better, when my wife did ROC in 2012 she sent the paperwork to Vermont in early January. However, the case was not approved until late September (9 to 10 months later). It took about a week to get the initial receipt and then another week to get the ASC notice. She had her ASC appointment about a month after applying and then heard nothing from USCIS from early February till late September. I know were are talking 3 years ago, but Vermont is know for being slow in processing ROC. In reality there is no harm with a long processing time of ROC, since you can still come and go and work in the US. The only downside is USCIS can't make a decision your N-400 until the ROC is approved, however, some have noted that filling a N-400 (when you are eligible to do so) forces USCIS to process the ROC.

To make the matter worst we moved right before they approved her. We filed the AR-11 online on a Saturday night and the case got approved on Tuesday 4 days later. We spoke with a Tier 2 agent would told us that their computer system has the new address and assured us the letter and card was going to the new address. We received both the letter and card at the new address with no issues.

To the OP: You should be approved before your vacation in December and have your 10 year card by then. If it is coming close to the year date of the letter and you still haven't been approved or received your new card, then make an INFOPASS appointment at your local USCIS to see if they can stamp your passport to show temporary proof of permanent resident status.

I submitted my removal of conditions last September and the case number never worked. I did receive the removal of conditions about six months after the application, but the case number never functioned. I had tried to call and you will only receive the current pending date and nothing else.

My suggestions is to just wait it out realizing that you won't be able to update your status. This happens to a few of us and it is nothing to worry about (in fact, the case update doesn't really tell you anything more than waiting).
