Hello all.

I need information. Oh.. yes, I have read and read everything over and over again.I am engaged to marry an Americain citizen. I am Canadian. We have met in person last June of 2006, took pictures and have bus tickets and receipt of ring. Had all vacination. required. He makes the guide line, on the poverty levels. What I need to know which is best? Does it means if I were to go for a visit, lets say get married while I am there, can I stay with applying the Direct Consular. He lives in Missouri. How much money would we need? And what about the K1 fiance visa, does that mean after(if) getting the visa, go there marry, can I stay? Can I work?

And last question, when I went for a visit the first time, the border guards ask me so many questions, and call my work and the person(Roy, now fiance) what were my intentions?I'm so nervous about crossing into the US come this May for a visit. I now have my passport , did not have it back then in 2006,was not needed.I find it all so difficult because there is so much to read.I have studied the forms. and understand the letters of intent, and proof of relationship. If someone could help out with these question, I would be very grateful. I pray that all of us will be with our love ones, as it so difficult to be apart, as we cope the best we know how. Marie

There isn't a DCF option in the States, not that I've ever heard of. Getting the K1 means coming to the States and getting married here. As for working and traveling, you would need to file EAD and AP concurrently with AOS upon your marriage. Without EAD you can't work and without AP you can't travel out of the country. Well, you could travel out of the country but would not be readmitted without AP documentation.

As for how much money you need, what are you referring to? The amount needed to make it here once you're married depends on your husband's job and how soon you get EAD. I hope this helps. Best wishes Marie. :)
