Bad NEWS, for anyone who filed visa, recently!!!

The guy probably didn't realize it when he said it, bad choice of words. I've said tomorrow before and meant the next workday. What facebook page says they're working this weekend? They said that last week and most were open, some couldn't be.

It should be any weekend when the backlogs aren't cleared yet!

Well, I think that's pretty selfish and misguided. Not only would coordination have to be made through all the Americans at the embassies, but also the host country and all their workers. They deserve time off also, especially over a holiday weekend.

jayjayhas status changed on the 29th I believe. We were at the consulate together on the 16th and my status changed yesterday.

Zirq who had an interview on the 17th also had a status change yesterday afternoon. We all interviewed at MTL.

Hey canadagirl89, thanks for the info! My wife's interview was also on the 16th in Montreal. You must've all been there together, kinda crazy. Anyways, my status still says Ready even though it had a couple of status updated date changes since we started checking the CEAC site. Im sure we will finally get some good news after the extended holiday weekend, time to start packing! :)

No. Trust me. It was not a bad choice of words. He said tomorrow as in Friday. There is no mistaking it. The guy either lied or forgot, neither of which he should've done.

Ps. You do know that there are places in the US that DONT have off today? So yeah, to wish that they would work today overseas (which today is not even a holiday they celebrate in those countries) because a ton of us have been waiting weeks or months to see our loved ones and are at the FINAL stage is really not all that selfish. Our visa, had the consulate been open, would've been printed and in our hands today. Instead we are rebooking our flight and get to spend another holiday apart.

Ah selfish?!

It wouldn't be a misguidance if they didn't promise they're working during the weekend.

Of course I know...I'm not dense. You are dealing with Federal agency though not Wal-Mart. They always say don't book flights before you have the visa in hand. They was the decision and risk you both took. Being military, I'm more than aware of what it feels like to be apart from family during holidays...it sucks. It is completely self-serving to wish they worked, what else would it be? Nothing is stopping you from spending the holiday there with him.

Where did they promise they'd work this weekend?

Where did they say 'we're still working to reduce the backlog this weekend'?

We'll never know, but I wonder why the status updates at all. Mine has been updated every single work day since my interview, still on Ready. I'm confident next week will be my turn! One has to stay positive.

Why are you asking me? You're the one who said it. I know they said last weekend they would. So if they worked this weekend that would be 19 straight days of work (June 22nd to July 8th). How hard would anybody be working in those conditions?

One more question for you, was the waybill# the same as your case number? MTL2015xxxxxx?

I'm not sure. I'll ask jayjayhas, we met at the interview so we've been corresponding. She got her waybill# already, I'll get back to ya!

They said they expected to clear the backlog early this week. There was a one word 'yes!' Reply from them to this question. It's not about expecting them working 19 straight days. It's about their communication consistency as people started feeling comfortable checking on updates there rather than dreaming to get through anyone on the phone or checking on our email hoping for a single reply after we send an enquiry by email.

So it would have been nice if we saw another post like: 'we're not working this weekend due to holiday and we could not clear the entire backlog but we continue..........etc etc' I am sure people will appreciate more and not expecting anything this weekend. It matters they way we communicate to build trust and commitment.

So she said that her waybill # started with letters like GKN1234 or something like that, so it's different than the case number.
