Immigration matters can be a factor that people consider when they contemplate marriage, they just can't be the *only* factor.

Exactly, who will be going where and how that happens is pretty material.

“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”

The same exact thing happened to me. I've had to go to secondary a few times while traveling frequently and for long periods of time on the VWP. Eventually I was told the same thing. I arrived in November and was told I shouldn't come back until at least the summer of next year.

The weird thing is, even though others have said that it's probably not what happened to you, I was also told that marriage would be an option. But we weren't ready for marriage at that point and I said that to the officer.

I traveled to the states in June of the following year for 3 weeks, and was pulled into secondary again. After lots of talking to 3 different officers (including the same officer I talked to in November, she was there again at the same POE) I was admitted into the country and I was told I shouldn't come back without a visa. I did have proof of ties and I was asked to show some too, so be prepared for that.

I got a B2 visa and traveled again after a year of not being here, and I wasn't asked a single question. Admitted for the full 6 months.

I'd suggest you guys should really wait at least a few months before traveling to the US again. Of course this is just my personal opinion based on my experience with immigration.

And whenever your girlfriend wants to come back to the US, just make sure you're prepared and bring proof of ties home in case she gets questioned again.
