Hey,

So I mailed my package for ROC early june and I didn't get yet my paper allowing me to travel when my temporary greencard expires BUT just got my biometrics appointment in the mail ! Scheduled for june 22!

Problem: I am out of the country and traveling back on july 1st, I know it is bad timing but I really didn't expect the biometrics to come so soon.

Someone is checking my mail and on the notice says to reschedule an appointment (...) mail the original of this notice with your request to PBU" etc....

So what is " your request" ? Are we supposed to write a paper saying why we can't show up or potential dares we are interested in? Not getting this part...what if I only mail the notice with the "rescheduling my appointment" square marked? Also, it is 10 days, if it is mailed tomorrow, do you think it will be proceeded on time for the ones who have experienced it? I am kind of in a panic right now, please let me know ! Thanks very much!

I can be wrong, but I think all you need to do is to mark the biometrics appointment letter in the request reschedule section, and mail it to them. No additional document/letter is necessary.

ROC:

11/08/2014 - NOA with conditional residency extension for 1 more year received. NOA1 Receipt date 11/04/2014

Exact same thing happened to us, except there was no time to do an official reschedule since a) the notice arrived one week before the appointment and b) we were out of the country. So we went to the ASC as a walk-in as soon as we returned and were prepared to explain with passport stamps, itinerary etc. They didn't ask one single question and did the biometrics straight away. No problems.

I think the phrase you mention means that the request to reschedule will be in the original biometrics appointment letter. Meaning, just check the Reschedule my appointment box, and that is your request in the original of the notice.

Regarding 10 days - I think you should be fine. It is enough time for them to receive your request. I am not sure though how far back they will reschedule your appointment to. We'll wait for somebody with experience to respond here.

Ah and yes, walk in is a good idea. You can just try to do a walk in next week! I did it as my appointment was also on a date I was traveling, so instead of rescheduling I just tried to do a walk-in several days before the appointment. My first walk-in attempt failed due to the biometrics place being full that day (that was Friday). I tried again the next week and came very early, when they just opened, and was allowed to get my biometrics done.
