First of all, congrats on your upcoming marriage!

Once you are married, then you need to file for Adjustment of Status (called AOS). There's a whole forum on here about it. Do NOT leave the US until your green card is in hand or you have applied for and received Advance Parole documents, or you will have to file for another visa.

Go check out the AOS forums; that should give you a good idea of what you need to do.

I will check the AOS forums. I just visited India....so for a while i don't expect to go anywhere.

Since, I am on OPT...do you think there could be any problems iwth the GC application..?

Thanks a lot,

only if you give them reason to think you lied to get on one kind of visa and you intended to get married. if there's a whiff of visa fraud, that's bad.

if you were here on anykind of visa, happened to fall in love, and are now entering the AOS process, that's more okay. pull together all the evidence you can of how you got here, when you met your spouse, the courtship, decision to marry, etc. go check out the AOS forums here too and ask them about their experiences.
