i have no record of my yellow fever etc shots or TB or tetanus so ill have to get them redone.

i want to do this sooner rather than later so if somebody can let me know what they have had to get it would help.

In my interview letter that I received there is a page that says:

Recent changes to United States immigration law now require immigrant visa applicants to obtain certain vaccinations (listed below) prior to the issuance of an immigrant visa. Panel physicians who conduct medical examinations of immigrant visa applicants are now required to verify that immigrant visa applicants have met the new vaccination requirement, or that it is medically inappropriate for the visa applicant to receive one or more of the listed vaccinations.

- mumps

- measles

- rubella

- polio

- tetanus and diptheria toxiods

- pertussis

- influenzae type b (Hib)

- hepatitis B

- varicella

- pneumococcal

- influenza

My interview is also scheduled for Montreal. We go on the 30th of this month. I didn't have to receive all those shots, the doctor will check your immunization history and determine which ones you need.

If you click on "Immunizations" on the left it shows you by age group what's required.

Dr. Seiden is a Toronto-based USCIS appointed doctor for immigrating Canadians. While I went through Vancouver, the list was the same as on this website for my age group.

I had my immunization card from high school, and had to re-do tetanus (Td) which has a 10 year limit.

If you don't have your immunization record, you can do an anti-titre test through your doctor (see that site for info on what it is) or you can get the shots all over again. If you choose to get new shots, the immigration doctor will do them for a fee; it may be less expensive to go through your provincial medical plan (i.e. regular G.P. doctor).

edit: Just to note, they took my verbal statement on having varicella (chicken pox) without requiring written proof or antibody tests.

Shots needed:

  • MMR
  • TD
  • Varicella (chickenpox) if you did not have the disease, titre if you did

I also got HBV (Hep B ) shots done at Cherokee County Public Health--though not essential, it does have protective value (and you're better off getting too many than too few shots for immigration apps).

if you've already had all the required shots there is NO Need to have them again. This could in fact be harmful to your health.

Just go to your regular doctor and ask them to do the blood test called a titre to check for immunization. Dr. Seiden in Toronto as well as USCIS will accept this as proof of vaccination. The titre test is covered by OHIP if you have it done by your GP (unless its changed since summer 2004).

Most likely all you need is Tetanus, and your GP can also do that for free.

ditto on the titre test  but you might want to get them done well in advance of your medical, as the results might take a week or two to get back

I did the titre test and all they do is take some blood and send it in to be tested ... they can check if you have ever had the chicken pox and if you have had the ruebella (german measles) shot.... make sure and get a copy of the results to bring to the medical

I think the blood test was to check for HIV/AIDS and STD's.

Hmmm....I asked about my immunization record, she said to bring it but they would do blood tests, depending on which tests it would be 60-130$. I just assumed it was to do with immunization.
