VisaJourney Baby Creator thread!

I thought I'd create this thread in response to several requests I've had after the previous thread I'd made about a baby forum. So here goes!

This thread is for those couples who are getting ready to have a baby of their very own, but haven't quite got there yet! It's also there for everyone with some advice to contribute (Moms and Dads out there, welcome!) and anyone else who is interested in fellow member of the VJ community and theri own, personal next step. It's so that our VJ family can stay together, support one another though a great big and very interesting emotional hurdle!

It's not everyone's choice to have children, but it's a common theme that many of us share. The road to babe-in-arms can be very easy, or very hard, but one thing all wannabe-pregnancies and pregnancies have in common is that they are a heck of a lot easier if there is some kind of support network.

So here's my contribution to this thread:

Ben and I are trying to conceive. This month is month number two of "attempting" and it's the first month we've used an ovulation predictor kit (awesome jobbies, they are!). I am seven days past ovulation and I am feeling a little funny... We will see what the next week holds....

And with that, let's have some funny baby pictures to get this started off:

 Jayjay, I can't wait until we are in your shoes. For now, we are talking about names.

I just hope I'm mature enough to be a dad. I remember this one time, I was dating this girl who lived with me. She went out of town for a couple of weeks and told me to make sure I water her plants, but I didn't because I forgot. So when she got back, the plants were all shriveled up and I thought to myself-- "Man if that would have been a kid, that would have REALLY been a fight"

But anyway, Jayjay have ya'll talked about any names?

Stewart and I aren't trying YET but talk about it alot. We're both ready mentally and emotionally, but it's that financial bit that is holding us back. He's going back to school fULL TIME soon and we just don't know how that will effect our income....so adding a new baby in the mix we feel isn't prudent at this time.

Many of my friends are just starting to have, or to try to have kids, but we're FINE with waiting!! I cannot WAIT to have children with him though! He's going to be an amazing dad.

Finally finished with immigration in 2012!

We bought our house a little while ago and we're about as financially stable as we're going to be - unless we want to wait 25 years until we have substantial savings lol :P And then we will be unable to have kids...lol :P

I don't know about names. Ben wants a boy, and for him to be called Ben as well. So I make jokes about him being Ben Jr Jr as my Ben is already Ben Jr. I don't even see why he'd want to do that, since he hates his name...men are weird :D

I guess I'm the kind of gal who likes names like Rose and Pearl and all that blah. Not too into some of the wierd and wonderful ones - i.e. Pixiedust Fairyflower or anything strange like that...

Have to see, won't we :D

Jay Jay...

I had a friend who's husband wanted to do the same thing with their first born son's name. His name was James Jr. so the son was born and they named him James the III. But it both started driving them crazy to have two James' in the house so they started calling him Trey (for the number 3). Kinda weird but it worked for them. My hubby wants to name our son (if we have one) after himself as well. I like his name Dean but I had other plans in mind.

I hope to be joining this thread as a pregnant woman sometime soon. I got pregnant in early June but unfortunately had to end the pregnancy because it was a tubal. Very scary and painful!!!! It wasn't a planned pregancy or we probably would have started trying to get pregnant again sooner. But it definitely sparked something inside of me that really feels ready for a baby now.

I wish you all the very best of luck.

Erin

I have been affected by the baby bug and as soon as we get married, I want to start trying.

I have been the woman who does the 'please don't let me get pregnant' dance immediately afterwards  for as long as I can remember. Now, I dream of giving life to a baby that comes from David and me.

We're trying now. We are doing our part, so now it's up to God and hopefully neither of us has any issues that would prevent pregnancy. Looking forward to the day we have a baby. :)

Isn't it wierd - for ages and ages you try not to get pregnant and then when you DO want to get pregnant it opens up a whole new world of "am I really ovulating? Am I normal? Do I HAVE hormones???"

One of the first things I did was buy an Ovulation Predictor Kit - great things they are! I soon found out I did indeed have the correct hormones, which was a really weight off my mind as until then, you're never really 100% sure you're even fertile anymore...lol :D

I am reading "What to expect when you're expecting" and keeping an eye on the date. My blob is due at the end of this week or the beginning of next week (or so) so I am going to see what happens this month :)

I would love to join this thread, unfortunately things aren't going as planned for us. We've been ttc'ing for almost three years now. We've even been to a fertility clinic. Just as you said JayJay, you try for years not to get pregnant and then when you want to, it just doesn't happen. I actually got pregnant 2 years ago but it ended in a miscarriage. After that we tried and nothing happened. We went to the fertility clinic and found out 2 things, 1) My tubes were partially blocked and 2) I wasn't ovulating. I did the shot thing for 3 months and had 3 eggs every month. We still didn't get pregnant. I finally decided I had to take a break. Way too much stress for one person to deal with. So now we are waiting. We will eventually, after we save some money, go back to the fertility clinic to do IVF. Unless by some chance my body decides to go back to doing what it's supposed to on it's own. Then we will be pleasantly surprised. Good luck to everyone else. I will still pop in from time to time since we are still trying. Just not expecting anything to happen.

Just couldn't stay my @ss away!

Yep I know what you mean with the trying not to get pregnant and now really trying TO get pregnant.

And something that annoys to no end, even though it is out of my hands, is when people who do not even want a baby get pregnant, and those who really want a baby have problems getting pregnant. There's so many pregnant teenagers who did NOT want to have a baby. And it's so hard to see couples who have been wanting a baby for a long time still not have one yet.

I used ovulation predictors last month and am this month too. I also started charting my fertility pattern on fertilityfriend.com for the past few months so I knew my cycle length and the important info about that. If you want to see what my chart looks like, here ya go, http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/16a29b .

It is a very informational and easy thing to do and I'd really suggest anyone ttc to give charting a try. If you are not sure what everything means, you can look around fertility friend for the answers. (it's free for basic membership, which is what I have).

I'll stop in this thread from time to time, though when I find out I am preggo I may hold off saying anything on VJ until 10 or so weeks go by, just in case.

Good luck to all the couples trying!

Thanks for this thread, JayJay! My husband and I are trying to conceive, and the whole thing can be a little overwhelming. I am using an ovulation predictor called Ovulite. It tests patterns in your saliva. Anyone heard of this or tried it? It's really very interesting!!

I'm praying to conceive this year, Lord willing....

I'll ship all of you my son's packet of fee charts from West Virginia University and see how you feel about babies after that....... :P

Good point
