How long does it take for NVC assign the case number?

I called NVC on 05-21-15 and asked for the case number. They said they have receivemy case on 05-07-15 but it not in the sytem so no case number yet. I call everyday, they haven't assign the case number for me yet. Did anyone had that kind of experience? I look at the timelines currently most people got their case number around 2 weeks. It's there is anything I can do?

Try calling again many times. don't give up. They probably have your case number and IIN already.

The time frame for the case to be assigned is 40 days , so you still in that range , dont panic

  • Receive I-864 Package : 2015-05-14
  • Submit DS-261 : 2015-05-28 ( The website was down for almost 3 weeks , no one was able to log in )
  • Send IV Package : 2015-05-27
  • Checklist: 26 June 2015 [ Non-submission of DS 260] i was not able to submit it due to the website issue ]
  • Submit DS-260 05 July 2015
  • Case Completed 05 August 2015
  • Interview scheduled on 9/11/2015
  • Interview shceduled for 10/14/2015
  • Interview Status : Approved

my case was assigned to NVC in may 28 still to get the case number i call then today and they answer was my case is there in the building but is not updated in the system yet take about 4 weeks to assign the case number. i don't understant how NVC work because i read other people get a case number in about 3 to 4 days i the petitioner for my husband IR1-CR1 visa category.

Did you give them your email when you called? If you didn't next time you call ask to give them your email addresses so at least that way you will start to receive some communication but don't hold your breath.

I called them today and finally got my case number. It's assign on 06-12-15. I tried to give my e-mail over the phone and the rep said she can't put it into the system because they are still trying to put my information in the system. Can't sign in for 261 yet. I give it a few days.

Just so you know...my package for the NVC completed twice...once at the end of March and again on the 21st of April. (the computer at the CEAC said it was not submitted...believe me it was submitted). According to the NVC rep, the only things that is left is a review of the DS-260...we are talking about 2 boys under the age of 15...what could be more easy...anyway still no letter stating NVC process is complete....it has been 1 year, 1 month and 13 days for my step sons CR-2 process,,,what can I say...the numbers speak for themselves....

When I called NVC they would not let me give my email address, I was told the same thing " it will take 45 days to input case into the system check back then".
