As some of you may know I am here in PI with Luz and we were blessed with a successful interview. Luz and Robin will be coming to America around April 1 and we plan to have a quick civil wedding her first week there so we can start AOS.

I haven't researched AOS yet so we are totaly ignorent of the process. As things progress I will have endless questions.

Is there anything we need to know at the start to make things go easier? Any advice would be much appreciated.

HEY !! congrats on the Visa and welcome to AOS :dance: Lots of really helpful people here but as far as paperwork it's pretty simple .. 1-485 isn't complicated if you read the instructions and the I-864 is fairly simple as well .. good luck on the rest of your journey

I see in the guide they will want Luz's annullment. The embassy got her original. Will that be returned with her visa or will she need to get a new copy?

As to what i know, Luz need to get a new copy of annulment letter. The embassy will NOT return what she had submitted to them.

The guide says to include divorce / annullment papers with I-485 but if you read the instructions it does not ask for them ... I did not send any Divorce info with I-485 .. and i'm sure you will find the same for many others .. here's a thread i asked the same Q http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.ph...&hl=Robin28 .. I'm not sure she will get her original back with her visa though .. so if she wants one for her own records i would sudgest getting a copy before she moves to the USA as she may need it to obtain a marriage licence ..... Gary, if it's not too much bother, I'd have them get extra certified copies of any official documents. Birth certs, annulment - whatever. We have extra copies of Wes' long form birth certificate - I just figure you never know when you might need them. After all, it's a permanent move and hopefully you'll have a long life together here. I don't know if Social Security might want official birth certificates when you file for benefits later in life - that sort of thing. So we got extras just in case.

Like Meriam said, get the DS-3025 from the visa medical for transferance to the I693A once back in the states.

Robin might need his school records (not for AOS but for his academic life) so get those.
