Alright Thank you!!! I will keep an eye on it and also have someone pick up my mail while I am away!

Other question: what is an overstay? My F-1 visa expired in July of this year and I filed for AOS in May. It doesn't apply to me right?

Hello guys, congrats to all on getting your EADs!!! Avania, you made me laugh a lot!!!

Do you guys know if you get a text/email when they schedule the interview? Or is it just going to be a letter? I signed up for "my case" online but I am not sure if it sends out notifications for that or not.

Thanks for the help!

Yes, you receive an email when your interview is scheduled, I got the letter first and the case online was updated 1 or 2 days after that, and got the email and text notification right after it was updated

and no problem for the overstay, that is waived when you are adjusting your status

Awesome!! thanks a bunch! I hope it all works out, going though training for a new job end of September. Hopefully USCIS doesn't schedule me then!!!! you know... Murphy's law kinda deal! LOL

LOL!!! yeah my visa just expired in July, but my OPT was valid until September (I-20). I'm not sure if that's an overstay or not, since I applied for AOS prior to expiration! I was just worried about using the AP (for my job, I am a pilot and will need to get out and back) in the case of an overstay. I heard it's more complicated... but again... I don't know what's true or not... it always depends on which officer you get on your re-entry!

Thank you ladies!!

Anyone here did their interview as yet?.... what are some of the questions asked?

Some folks in the other May thread had interviews (they are K1 visa holders). Some people posted some questions they were asked.

I have some bitter sweet news. I applied for my SSN last week Thursday (Aug 13). The job offer I have, has been more than patient with me. I gave them the EAD but they need the SSN. After reading several forums I saw people stating you could go to the SSN office you applied and get the number while you wait for the card to show up in the mail. I decided to give it a shot today, and I must say thank GOD I did! I told them I have a job offer and the employer needs the SSN to do background check etc. The agent was more than willing to assist me, and then we found out NO APPLICATION was submitted for me!!!! :ranting: He asked me for a receipt and I told him the previous agent told me I did not need one and that my card will arrive 3-4weeks. He asked me what was the agent name and good thing was he was at work TODAY so I saw his lazy a$$ and pointed him out. The agent went over to have a word with him (I have no clue what they talked about, but I assume he asked him "did you submit this application" and he's like "no but tell her something was wrong with DHS" :sleepy:. Anyways, the agent came back and put my information into the system and he verified me instantly with DHS and told me to come tomorrow because it takes 24 hours for the SSN to be generated in the system and 7-10 days for it to be mailed out once verified. He said he will give me the number tomorrow so I will keep you guys updated. He did advised in future to always ask for a receipt because what happens is, when you get a receipt it means the agent DID submit the application while you were there. When you don't it's like some of the agents just take the information and put it aside to get back to it and not remember to submit it....He also gave me a receipt showing that I applied TODAY , but at least he told me come tomorrow to assist with the number.

Awesome. I went to DMV a weeks ago and I applied for my California ID. Show my EAD, SSN and pay $28.00. Hopefully I will get my ID by this week.

Waiting on SSN too, applied last Monday, was the same 3 - 4 weeks, but with the latest info from Avania, I would be happy to get it the week that starts tomorrow.

On a side note, I wanted to ask if it's true that when applying for a temporary DL, and you don't present a proof of previous driving history from your country, you might be asked to take some months course before you are eventually allowed to take the road test?

Kinda worried about this as I didn't come here with mine since it would have been expired whenever I decide to go back and also I never bothered getting the International DL.
