How is her going to Toronto going to solve anything. You said you needed your family to work out the issues, are you going to drag them all there?

My experience (i know you're not asking but you brought it up) is when family gets involved things get worse. The two of you need to work on things not the family. If her issue is with someone in your family then that is an issue you need to fix not her.

My friend, the only advice I can offer is to try to have some alone time with her... through video chat. I'm not a woman, but as a man whose legs swell up pretty bad on long-haul flights, I don't even want to imagine how uncomfortable a pregnant woman will be. It's just not practical for her to fly at this stage. I know that the time difference is huge, but perhaps try to leave the video feed open on a day that you're both off, or (highly unlikely unless one of you works midnights) try to sleep with the video feed. Me and my then-fiancée did it while she was in Ecuador, helped us feel closer.

It will be up to you to be the strong one in the relationship and convince her that it is a bad idea for her to travel. And if she absolutely insists on face time, then you try your very best to travel to Australia.

This whole thing feels soo dodgy.. Idk why it just feels wrong to me. Dont make her fly, try to sort it out in other modes. And if it really is as bad as it sounds a week shouldn't make a significant difference.

p.s. involving family makes things worse.

Maybe I missed it but why can you fly to Canada and not Australia?

If you're willing to spend all this money on flights and possibly hotels for you and your family, maybe you should spend it hiring a couple of tech support guys to get the Skype working properly. Is that an option?

To add to what's already been said...

I'm 25 weeks now, and my husband just went to England for our nephew's baptism (and the only time this year we can likely see his family). I was told very early in my pregnancy that it was not advisable to travel internationally past 20 weeks. I've had no complications at all, but as others have said, blood clots and just the uncomfortableness of it all isn't advisable. My doctor also said that flying (pressure changes in particular) can induce labor in certain situations, so the further along you are, the higher the risk becomes. I know that everyone is different, but sitting at my desk at work for more than an hour is uncomfortable, so the thought of a plane is just dreadful.

And to answer the original question (which others have already), yes she is flagged in the system, and other than having stronger ties to Australia, there is nothing you can do but wait for the spouse visa to be approved.

does she hold an Australian passport? if the answer is yes, has she attempted ESTA at all? you speak of a tourist visa, VWP countries typically not need that.
