I agree with previous member. That's plenty of time to get to your next gate and relax. Just don't be afraid to ask flight attendants on your flight, what your connecting gate is and ask how to get there if you need to. Most airport staff are pretty friendly and are willing to help you find your way. Also double check with the agents at the counter once you de-board the airplane. They should have the most current information. They will, and the many TV screens that display all connecting flight info! good luck!

I am sorry, I used the wrong term...

it's not a connecting flight, what I was going to do was, take an international flight to JFK and then transfer to PHL using a domestic flight, meaning I will have to transfer to a different area at the airport..

will that still be enough?

mmmmm If I understand correctly, you were right, that is a connecting flight even though it's a different part of the airport. That's normal. It is very rare that you will stay on the same plane for a connecting flight. You should be fine. Like I said earlier, just be ready to ask questions if you don't know how to find your way and you should be fine.

thank you! I guess I'll take my chances then, they're two different airlines, I will be purchasing them separately.. Just worried that if I get a bit delayed they won't wait for me or even let me in on the next flight :(

Keep in mind tho, if you have a bunch of bags, you will have to go get your bags from baggage claim and re-check them because you're coming from overseas, and go through the whole overseas check-in line. So it really depends on how busy that international area is at the time of your flight. I have flown internationally three times and it has never taken me two hours to get through, but I've never gone through JFK, I have always gone through MIA. I would buy the ticket because I am an avid traveler. If you aren't comfortable navigating through the airport alone, I would opt for more time if I were you. (I am assuming you are traveling alone).

yes I will be alone.. I have flown to the US 3 times but my POE was always LAX so I knew where to go.. I am not quite familiar how far apart international and domestic terminals are with JFK.. I might just buy my international one first, and if I don't make the domestic one.. I'll just buy a bus ticket to Philly. :D Or, have my husband drive to New York though that will be quite a drive for him

oh, interesting :) I just called Delta (domestic one I was going to take).. and the operator told me I might not make it in time and told me a different solution. Either get my husband to pick me up, a bus, a train or a taxi. :D

I might do the "husband please pick me up, thank you very much" or.. My first bus ride to Philly. :D

After doing a little more research I think it would be best if you had a little more time. I say this because of the uncertainty of finding and transporting your luggage, as you will have to pick it up and transport it to another terminal (there are seven terminals that make up JFK) so you may want to rethink your plans. One suggestion is to take the subway into NYC Grand Central Station and hop on board a train going to Philly. They are very reliable and it would give you time and space to collect yourself and prepare for your meeting with your husband.

The train ride from JFK to Philly is pretty painless, but if he can you should have him get you so you don't have to mess with luggage.

Yes, have your hubby make the drive, it will be good quality time for you and it's only a 2hr drive from Philly to NYC if you take the New Jersey Turnpike. Those are definitely better options for you.

When you check into your first flight, ask them if they can link the tickets. If they're partner airlines, they can, even if you booked the tickets separately. Then you wouldn't have to worry about running and getting the luggage.

My advice would be to try to get tickets as close to the front of the plane as you can. My husband went through JFK after sitting at the back of the plane and it took him over 2 hours to get through customs. It depends on how large your plane is and the other flights coming in, but that would have made a big difference for him if he had a closer seat!

You might be ok but you're cutting it kind of close. Hope it works out for you!

First off the Delta operator has probably never flown internationally. Just a trained monkey on the phone in most cases doing customer service.

I would think you will have enough time, If ticket is already booked then go for it, If not then allow about 4 hours just to be safe.

I have flown Delta many times from Philippines to USA, most of the times there are on time or early.
