At what point do we submit originals?

No originals are submitted to NVC. You will keep for interview. Copies of Documents ONLY of everything to submit.

When you go to the uscis.gov page and near the middle/bottom of the screen you load unto there is a hyperlink labeled Check Case Status.

When you click it you can input your number you received in the mail when you first sent in your petition.

Click submit, (enter doesn't work for me), and you will be taken to the current most status of your case.

We got approved the same day!

No i don't believe that he will need to sign any paperwork at NVC. Besides filling in forms online, your husband just needs to Gather the IV Package and send them to you for you to Send both AOS and IV Packages together to NVC.

So how long does it take the Status to change to sending to Department of State?

Take originals to the interview. Submit photocopies (for mail submission) or scans (for electronic processing).

ETA: not 100% sure for K-1 what originals you will need, but I just bet there's a wiki or a guide around here somewhere that lays it all out for you.

Does it display that? I thought that they just sent it within a day or two after approval.

Can anyone confirm for us if they do, and then how long it takes to be updated?

I just rcv an email asking for additional evidence. They stated that they send me the request by mail. Ughhh why couldn't they just tell me here. So I could get what they need.

ETA: I thought you were going for a K-1. I'm sorry if this has been confusing!! I just got my CC for IR-1 and I sent only scans of originals.

I would recommend relying on Saylin's wiki rather than James's, as she wrote it more recently. Everything I have seen on here in the past months has said to send only copies/scans depending if it's electronic processing or regular mail, and you include in your cover letter language about producing the original documents at your interview.

The NVC sends a checklist of the documents you need to bring to your interview, and one of the codes is for scanned documents/photocopies, they will tell you the things you need to provide originals of later.

So at least I know that my file has been touched. Hopefully my RFE is something minor. I sent them so much ####### I don't see what could be missing unless they lost something. I wish they would have told me by email what they need. It's all a mind thing with these people I tell you. MIND OVER MATTER

They are working on your case that is a positive thing. The waiting for the RFE letter will be the worst part. I am sure it isn't nothing major. Just a few more days to wait. Good luck!!
