I would like to share my interview experience at Oakland Park, Florida's office.

My husband and I had our interview on November 19, we arrived 45 minutes early and we waited for more than 1 hour and a half to be called by an officer.

Our officer was really nice, young, and she let us very comfortable. She started asking us about our life, how we met, who proposed to who and when. Very simple questions. My husband and I are married for more than 3 years now, so she was not focus on looking for any fraud issue.

We gave her all the documents that proof our relationship, like bank statements, life and health insurance, car insurance and she was ok with that. She also kept some photos of our weeding and trips together.

At the end she said that she could not give us the approval since this field office doesn't give approvals on the spot. But she said that our case was fine and that we should be hearing from them in about 2 weeks.

We left the office very positives and later in the afternoon we received the email and text from USCIS approving our case.

The green card arrived yesterday in the mail and the wait is over!!!

I would like to thank everyone in this forum, you helped me a lot!!!

I wish good luck to everybody!

Best!

Good luck to everyone with upcoming interviews, and congratulations to those that already have been approved and have the greencard! We are still waiting on interview notice :( Ever since August, the only update I keep seeing on the USCIS website is "we received your RFE response August 13th, bla bla bla" Just wondering if anyone else is in NYC and had an RFE? Very nervous as to what's taking so long.

Just came back from the interview. I'm not sure how it went. let me know what you guys think.

The IO just asked for my/spouses name, bday, address, asked about my previous visas over the years and if we wanted to add any evidence to the file.

We pulled out a mountain of evidence for him to add to our file one by one and that was it. He didn't ask how we met or ANYTHING about us and our relationship. I offered him to look at the albums and collages we brought and he didn't seem to be interested in them..verdict:he'll review the evidence and said "we'll be in touch".

What do you guys think? I have a really bad feeling about how it all went down because of the fact that he didn't seem to care to hear our story. Everything he said is like a riddle..We gave it our 100% and the waiting begins.

You'll be fine, not everyone gets approved on the spot.....There's absolutely nothing for you to be sad about for. Relax and wait for your welcome letter

I hope so. the anxiety is killing me...

I also forgot to mention that the IO rejected any evidence that he could not keep..I didn't make copies of all the evidence assuming the IO would make copies at the interview(stupid me) so there was some stuff i wish i could've gave him that i couldn't forfeit.

I'm sorry to hear that you didn't get a firm conclusion at the interview, but as other posters noted, not everyone does. There are legitimate and not worrisome reasons why the officer might need to pass things on for a final review (from what I understand not all interviewing officers are actually authorized to make decisions themselves).

I do have a few questions:

- Which documents did the person seem to want to keep (even though you say you didn't have extra copies to leave with them)?

- Did the interviewer give you any indication of what the next steps are/where things stand? In other posters' experiences I've read sometimes they were told "my supervisor will review this and let you know" or "our office is missing such and such document for your file". Was anything to this effect mentioned?

- What kinds of questions more specifically did they ask about your previous visas? (I am adjusting from J-1 and have previously studied in the US on F-1, as is common for people on this thread. I wonder what to expect on that front.)

If you have a chance to reply, I'd appreciate it. Also, looking forward to hearing the further developments on your case!

Sure, I'll try to answer the best I can.

-He had no preference on which evidence he wanted presented to him..just didn't want to bother copying anything. I made sure to provide strong evidence of joint assets since thats what IOs usually look for in a bonafide marriage. I handed him one of the albums so they can grab some photos of the wedding/vacations/etc but he insisted we pick what we want submitted on file so we picked out 8 out of the 80 or so photos we brought.

-"I will review the evidence and make a decision, we'll be in touch" is what he said verbatim. no letter stating that the case was held for further review or no explanations regarding ROC. IO felt like a solid brick wall that i couldn't get thru. Only expression I saw was that he seemed a little overwhelmed when I pulled out a 6 inch stack of letters my spouse and I have been writing to eachother when we were dating. We submitted 3 letters out of the 5 or so dozen we brought.

-Questions asked in the following sequence: Were you on X-x visa previously? when? what other visas have you had previously?

Just home from our interview.

The lady we had was lovely. Had a great chat with her. She tools some photos and insurance documents. Credit card documents etc.

She didn't give us an answer just gave us the letter saying they'll review it and send a letter out but we didn't get rejected.

She was super nice and friendly. We feel things went well she was laughing and smiling with us too.

We are feeling confident but just have to wait to hear.
