I just got the email that my card has been mailed out!! Happy dance. To get your social you need: your EAD card, and (if available) your original birth certificate. I already have a Florida driver's license so I used that as my ID... If you don't have a DL/state ID, you also need to bring your passport. I called the SSA office to find out. I was going to go with the hard copy approval notice, but they want the physical EAD card.

Thanks! I guess what most people are saying is true, no news are generally good news!

Interesting though that AP got approved separately from EAD, but maybe that has to do with the biometrics or something. Just seem like most people get EAD/AP approved at the same time since it's going on the same card.

What does your time line look like Bondigirl0078?

Hmm.. It looks like you're going to be receiving them separately. You'll get a paper AP document that states you have advance parole, and your EAD card, which will follow hopefully soon, will be just for employment authorization, not for travel.

Morning VJ family just to give a quick update on my case. Yesterday I call Uscis to inquire about the delay with my EAD , the guy I spoke to me said he will send the inquiery to the Uscis office that's looking after my case. This morning I receive a email from Uscis notifying me that they receive my RFE on the 20th of July for my I-485 so my EAD will be process with in 90 days from July 20th and not the June 9th anymore.

Yelli can you pls share your experience with us once you apply for your SSN?

Also - I was wondering if your EAD card had a USPS tracking # when you checked the case status online... Mine doesn't.

No, it didn't have a tracking number like I saw some people say. But it was mailed on Monday of last week and it arrived by Thursday so it took 3 days for it to get delivered.

So I arrived at the Social Security office at about 8:45am and they open at 9. I saw that the line outside was starting move in slowly so I hurried and got in there. I waited in line for maybe 5-10 minutes until they called me and gave me a number along with an application to fill out. Filled out the application, waiting about another 5-10 minutes until my number was called. I had this amazingly nice lady who was making conversation, making sure everything was being put in the system correctly. She asked me if I had a TIN and for me to give it to her. I also gave her my EAD, my matricular ID I got at the consulate, marriage license and birth certificate. After maybe 30 minutes of her working on putting everything in the system she said I was good to go and I should receive the card within a week but to give it 2 weeks. Oh and she also asked me for my I-94 which at first I couldn't remember what it was and knew it sounded familiar. She told me she doubted I had one but once she told me it was my entry permit when I came here I was like "Oh yeah I have it right here!" so gave her that as well. She didn't ask me for my passport at all. I was going to say something else but I can't think of what it was, if I remember I'll come back lol

I remember! lol she asked when was the last time I entered the US and since it was back in 1998 that's why she thought I didn't have an I-94, guess she thought I came in illegally instead of with my passport and visa. Also she said that the SSN card will have writing on the top since I went and got it with just the EAD but that once I get my GC to go back in the office and they will remove the words on top of the card.
