Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

That's great news, Toy!! It will be here before you know it.

I got my biometrics done today. It was an all day journey but I'm just so glad it is done.

I'd seen reviews where people mentioned having to run back to their cars to take their bags and phones. I called USCIS yesterday explaining that I'd heard and read that you are not allowed to take anything into the building apart from the letter and the photo ID. I was trying to determine if there might be somewhere nearby where I could leave my items if not allowed past security. Surely I wouldn't be the first person going to a biometrics appointment who was not arriving by car. I could definitely comply with the no phone part but I'd need to walk with my house keys, some money, travel card, the appointment letter and my passport. I would need to carry all of that stuff in something other than my bare hands. I wasn't planning to make myself a nice juicy target while walking past Tuesday's Criminal of the Day on his lunch break, looking for someone to rob or assault!! No, I didn't say it like that to him. I was being polite while seeking his help and advice . Fat lot of good that did me though. He told me that most likely when I get there they'll make me reschedule my biometrics appointment. smh

It took me almost 3 hours to get there because I had to go via public transportation *shiver shiver*

There were about 7 people in front of me. I had been waiting for about 15 minutes before the officer came to let our little batch in. I was the only one who didn't come by car, so I was imagining that if they didn't allow me in with it, I would have to hide my handbag by the dumpster or behind some flowers, hoping it would be there when I got back. I was not going to reschedule. Even if it meant I had to carry everything in my hands on the journey home. lol I was thinking up all kinds of pathetic scenarios, thanks to the unhelpful person I spoke to at USCIS customer service yesterday.

So the officer came out to those of us waiting at the door and I heard the dreaded words: "No handbags allowed. Please take all bags, phones, etc to your cars. Only bring in your appointment letter and ID." He even stopped the little old guy who had his papers in a plastic walmart bag. I told him that I didn't have a car... and showed him my small, nonthreatening handbag. It is the smallest one I have. He told me stand to the side while he allowed another 15 people in, people who had been behind me in line. Then the officer turned to me and asked for my phone. He was pleased when I told him I didn't bring it. I guess he could see I was trying my best to follow the rules. I even offered that I could leave my bag with him or at the door.lol

He said he would let me take it in and then he didn't even check the contents. He then told me not to go into my bag for any reason while I was in the building - unless he specifically told me to...... And then he said, "Go and stand in front of that guy who is first in line" :D heeeheehee

After that it was smooth sailing. I filled out the intake form, returned it to the officer who let us in (he told me to make sure I'm driving next year when he sees me) and then was given my number in line. As I walked towards the chairs I was directed to, my number was called before I even sat down. The officer who took my fingerprints was super chatty and friendly. My no car status was the talk of the office by then. She even went as far as saying she was taking extra care to make sure she got them all done properly so I wouldn't have to come back on a long journey to redo any of the fingerprints. lol

I filled out the comment car giving them rave reviews and left. Now I will live through those of you who had your biometrics last week. I won't even allow myself to start looking for anything in the mailbox until I hear someone else say they got some special USCIS mail. :-).... Honestly, that plan will probably last until Friday, and then I'll be back to checking the online status several times a day and the mail box every morning and afternoon - just in case the mail carrier forgot something and decided to turn around and drop it off. ^_^

Wow. What a day you had! I didn't know handbag wasn't allowed. I brought my handbag full of stuffs with me  ...I even saw people with their phones and no problem. I guess it depends on the ASC. I'm glad they let you in and complete the biometrics.

Yeah i'm not even checking much now since no one else in this forum gets anything yet. Also, May filers haven't got anything else besides biometrics like us so i doubt we would get anything before them

I know! It was crazy because of the uncertainty.

And now I'm sitting down at home thinking, "Hmmm, should I twiddle my thumbs? Should I go and see if any May filers got anything in the mail today?" I know August is almost here, but still, that is so far away. lol

I couldn't help but laugh at the whole journey you had just to get to your biometrics appointment Bubblz lol.

I had read the no cell phones on the letter so when I arrived I left my phone in my car and only took with me the 2 appointment letters, my marriage certificate, ID, and passport all in a big manila envelope. I did see people with handbags and some with cellphones but those with cellphones were being told to turn them off and if the officer saw any of them with their phones out (even little kids) he'd tell them to turn it off and put it away. He was the only scary one in the whole building.

Yeah, I've been checking my mailbox and online to see if there's any updates but I know it won't happen for maybe another month or so *sigh*

Hi VJ family today was my biometric appointment at 9am on jamacaia avenue. I got there at 8:15am and was finish by 8:30am. So all went well for me but, unfortunately for a Chinese girl it was the opposite, while she was filling out the form that was given by the security, she was on her phone he told her to not use the phone, so she put it in her bag a few seconds later she start using the phone again. a next man who look like the supervisor came and told her to put it away, the security then inform him that he spoke to her 2 times about her phone, after hearing that the supervisor told her to hand back in the form and come back a next day. It was sad but she was wrong 3 times.

Yay for biometrics being done! I don't know why people think it's a joke when they're told not to use their cell phones. Not to mention it says on the letter to not bring them! So that was all her fault for not listening.

Hey our timeline is almost the same. Yours is few days faster than mine. You would fit perfectly in June since we filed in very end of May already.

So happy to hear you got it all finished!

Has anyone gone with their significant other? I wanted to go with my husband but it says not to bring anyone unless you need a translator etc...having been through all this before I was able to go in the past but maybe it's changed?

I went by myself since I and my hubby works in the opposite direction and I just wanted to go there at my convenience. I have read around and they don't let your partner come in with you. At the end of the day, it still comes down to where your ASC is and how easy they are...If you really wanna go with your partner, just give the ASC a call and ask if it's okay.

When I went I saw a lot of people with their spouses and children. I didn't even know it said they couldn't go. I didn't take my husband with me because I knew they didn't need him and so he could stay home and watch our son there instead of staying in the car while I went in alone.

And literally five minutes after posting I got the email/text that my case has been scheduled for an interview, August 10th :)

No news on the EAD though.

Whitecloud, glad to have a timeline buddy :)

About bringing family to the ASC, my office had a large waiting area and there were quite a few family members. Also, no one seemed to care about cell phones or anything. FYI though, the lady did want to see my marriage certificate regardless of driver's license in married name (passport is in maiden name; app in married name), so take it along if this applies to you.

ROC Timeline:

May 31: Package mailed

June 8: NOA1 received, dated June 2

June 27: Biometrics done

Sept 25: Case Status Update Card in Production
