Wow, I'm glad you didn't get an RFE! Does anyone know what determines the chances for people to have the interview waived? On the surface it sounds lovely and stress-free, but I noticed there were a number of people who got interview waivers. It seems to be a two-edged sword because I saw some people had been waiting 10 and 11 months after the being informed they had received a waiver and still hadn't received their greencards.

Yeah what a relief! My heart almost stopped when i saw USCIS mail lol. I have been lurking through different forums and i think most AOS from K1 will likely receive interview waivers, but their process would take at least 1 year to complete. I personally wouldn't wanna get interview waiver because I'd rather to do interview and get this over with sooner. I think the reason why they do that is to prevent fraud. K1 visa is for fiance or fiancee, I think USCIS wanna give the couple 1 year to stay together to prove bona fide.

Do y'all know if by USCIS looking at the dates on my apartment lease and seeing we've been living together for 3 years and that's also on both our biographical forms that we've been living in the same address for 3 years, that they'll give me the 10yr instead of the 2yr? That's what I had heard but I don't know if I had to do something else, nor am I sure they do that.

Yelli, I believe it's based on how long you have been married. Like if you have been living with each other for years but have married each other for a few months then it should be 2 yr GC instead of 10 yr. But if you have been married for more than 2 years but decided to do AOS only now, you will receive 10 yr GC.

Oh ok, I've been married for only 8 months going on 9 on the 21st of this month but we've been living together for 3yrs and 1 month and I had heard that as long as y'all have been living togethr for over 2yrs. Either way as long as I get my GC it don't matter if I have to renew in 2yrs. I'll be legal and that's all that matters.

Gonna jump on here with a question. Me and my husband have been married for 4 and a half years but only now (the end of June) have we filed for my AOS. I asked my lawyer if that means I will get a 10 year green card or the 2 year one and he kinda looked at me like I was crazy and said that it's gonna be the 2 year one. So now I am all kinds of confused. I mean it's not that big of a deal, I'm just happy to finally be on the way to a GC but hell, if I can avoid having to file for ROC in 2 years I'd be even happier. :)

I guess we'll have to wait and see until we get it all finalized. Like I said I had heard that as long as y'all have been living together, since it's considered common law married, you could get the 10yr instead of the 2yr. But I guess we'll have to just wait and see. Also like you said we're happy to fiinally be getting the GC so the years don't matter.

Hi Everyone,

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend.

That's great news, Toy!! It will be here before you know it.

I got my biometrics done today. It was an all day journey but I'm just so glad it is done.

I'd seen reviews where people mentioned having to run back to their cars to take their bags and phones. I called USCIS yesterday explaining that I'd heard and read that you are not allowed to take anything into the building apart from the letter and the photo ID. I was trying to determine if there might be somewhere nearby where I could leave my items if not allowed past security. Surely I wouldn't be the first person going to a biometrics appointment who was not arriving by car. I could definitely comply with the no phone part but I'd need to walk with my house keys, some money, travel card, the appointment letter and my passport. I would need to carry all of that stuff in something other than my bare hands. I wasn't planning to make myself a nice juicy target while walking past Tuesday's Criminal of the Day on his lunch break, looking for someone to rob or assault!! No, I didn't say it like that to him. I was being polite while seeking his help and advice . Fat lot of good that did me though. He told me that most likely when I get there they'll make me reschedule my biometrics appointment. smh

It took me almost 3 hours to get there because I had to go via public transportation *shiver shiver*

There were about 7 people in front of me. I had been waiting for about 15 minutes before the officer came to let our little batch in. I was the only one who didn't come by car, so I was imagining that if they didn't allow me in with it, I would have to hide my handbag by the dumpster or behind some flowers, hoping it would be there when I got back. I was not going to reschedule. Even if it meant I had to carry everything in my hands on the journey home. lol I was thinking up all kinds of pathetic scenarios, thanks to the unhelpful person I spoke to at USCIS customer service yesterday.

So the officer came out to those of us waiting at the door and I heard the dreaded words: "No handbags allowed. Please take all bags, phones, etc to your cars. Only bring in your appointment letter and ID." He even stopped the little old guy who had his papers in a plastic walmart bag. I told him that I didn't have a car... and showed him my small, nonthreatening handbag. It is the smallest one I have. He told me stand to the side while he allowed another 15 people in, people who had been behind me in line. Then the officer turned to me and asked for my phone. He was pleased when I told him I didn't bring it. I guess he could see I was trying my best to follow the rules. I even offered that I could leave my bag with him or at the door.lol

He said he would let me take it in and then he didn't even check the contents. He then told me not to go into my bag for any reason while I was in the building - unless he specifically told me to...... And then he said, "Go and stand in front of that guy who is first in line" :D heeeheehee

After that it was smooth sailing. I filled out the intake form, returned it to the officer who let us in (he told me to make sure I'm driving next year when he sees me) and then was given my number in line. As I walked towards the chairs I was directed to, my number was called before I even sat down. The officer who took my fingerprints was super chatty and friendly. My no car status was the talk of the office by then. She even went as far as saying she was taking extra care to make sure she got them all done properly so I wouldn't have to come back on a long journey to redo any of the fingerprints. lol

I filled out the comment car giving them rave reviews and left. Now I will live through those of you who had your biometrics last week. I won't even allow myself to start looking for anything in the mailbox until I hear someone else say they got some special USCIS mail. :-).... Honestly, that plan will probably last until Friday, and then I'll be back to checking the online status several times a day and the mail box every morning and afternoon - just in case the mail carrier forgot something and decided to turn around and drop it off. ^_^
