EAD approved, but AP?

Hi VJs!

I filed EAD and AP in the same day. Now EAD was approved, but AP isn't. And USCIS website says they have my new card ordered. Will I get a EAD card only? I thought they will issue a combo card for me. I'm so confused. Is this normal? I'm afraid that my AP will be denied, because I said I want go back to China twice. Is there anyone here have been in same situation? Can any body tell me what to do next? I do need this AP. Any information will be highly appreciated! Thank you guys!

What you describe has been reported in these forums previously. As you already are aware of, the USCIS website information is not always complete. nor updated. When your EAD card arrives, examine the bottom edge of the card, it should say imbedded into the card "Serves as I-512 Advance Parole." If so, that is your new EAD/AP combo card.

Approved AP is written at the bottom of the EAD card unless they told you its denied but that would be odd. The only reason Im guessing it was denied was the way you applied for it. Check the link below:

If you filed for both and you were approved for EAD, then you should also have been approved for AP. The USCIS website did not immediately update my wife's AP status when her EAD was approved, but when she received her EAD card it had "also serves as i-512 Advanced Parole" at the bottom of the card.

I would suggest waiting until you receive your card. Based on experience and what I read in these forums, it should be a combo card.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).
