Evidence for I-134

Hi guys, we are filling out our form and gathering evidence for the Affidavit of Support for our K1. My fiancé has just started his own company at the end of 2014, so his tax returns include only some of his new company earnings and a job that he is no longer with. As well as his last 3 tax returns, of course include jobs that he is no longer at. What evidence/parts of his tax returns does he need to include for self employment? Anything else that would be helpful?

Also, we are getting his dad to sponsor as well. What are the certain forms he needs from his tax returns? I'm just not very familiar with the certain parts of the tax returns we need to gather for evidence. I was reading somewhere that said 1040, 1040a, 1040ex, 1099 and W2. As well as 6 months of pay stubs. And also a letter of employment and a bank statement. I feel like that's a lot! Lol.

Are IRS transcripts an easier route in gathering financial evidence for the two of them? Then we don't have to worry about gathering the "correct" forms from the tax returns? Or will we need them anyway?

Please confirm or let me know! Sorry I know these questions have been asked a ton already, I'm sure. I feel like I just need some clarification to make myself a checklist.

Thanks in advance!

Also, do I need certified copies of birth certificates for my fiancé and his dad to prove US residency? Or can it just be a photocopy?

Both are good. However, IRS Tax Return Transcripts way easier to obtain. Plus, transcripts are a printed report from the IRS showing that a return actually was filed, and shows the same figures that were reported on the return.

My husband and I used IRS Tax Return Transcripts both in the K1 Visa and now in the AOS process.

Thank you! I figured that was the easier plan :)

As for the birth certificate of your fiance and his dad as proof of US Citizenship, I would say bring certified copies. Photocopies might are fine as well, but it is better to be safe than sorry.

Btw in the I-129F petition we submitted a certified copy of my fiance's birth certificate just in case. USCIS even mailed it back to him after approving the petition! That was nice of them. :D
