Hysterectomy on monday

I dont know if anyone remembers the topic i had here a month ago but the hysterectomy is set for monday. Im kinda scared. I mean, I am 100% aware ill never have kids again after this but its still a depressing thought. But i look at the 2 kids i have and i realize how lucky i am to have them. If anyone has any encouragement on this surgery or any input for what i can expect afterwards id love to hear from you.

Other than that, after tomorrow i wont be on for awhile. Oh and my company is better than i thought. I was devistated with the 4-6 weeks loss of pay ill get, but my supervisor talked with HR and they got me for short term disability, so ill recieve 60% of my pay direct deposit for up to 13 weeks. that was one BIG stress off my back.

Sorry you have to experience this, but true be thankful for what you have already. I know others that have gone thru this and in todays times they snap back pretty quickly. Best wishes and take care of yourself

I guess one stress i have is im 30, and i never expected that at 30 id have this surgery. But i guess endometriosis doesnt give us a choice.

Im truely glad i have friends i can talk to like all of you.

my hubby is supportive but i think hes more scared than i am and clams up when i talk about this, and it was even worse when i had him sign my living will. He worries ALOT.

Best of luck. I don't know if you have had surgery before, but you should definitely be prepared for what happens afterwards. Talk to your doctors and nurses about your emotional health as well as your physical recovery. Particularly if you're not in pain, or uncomfortable, after surgery if you feel worse than when you went in, you may get very discouraged. Also, taking pain medication for any real length of time can add to that depression, so if you start to feel down, know that it could just be the pain meds. If you can wean yourself off of them quickly, you'll feel much better emotionally.

I wish you a quick recovery. I had a hysterectomy done 10 years ago and believe me, I could not be happier with the results. The recovery was very quick indeed.

Please try to relax, I know how it feels because I was so nervous myself when I had mine, but it will be OK. It's a blessing that you have two kids already.

No, endometriosis is no respecter of age, that's for sure. I'm just glad you're taking care of this now...I know of one lady who didn't and it turned cancerous (not trying to scare you further hon)

Joel is like that too. He's very supportive but worries so much. Last October, when I was hospitalized a week for a severe asthma attack he was frantic! We've talked about the living will thing....he doesn't like to discuss it. I guess it's hard to think about something like this when we've just come through this stressful journey JUST to be together.

I haven't had one myself, but my older sister did. At 32 years old and NO CHILDREN! She was carrying before and miscarried. I knew she was having problems, but I didnt know they were so serious. I am not going to make this about my sister. I just wanted to let you know that there will be a feeling of emptiness, "no pun intended here", but you will be ok. My sister had it a bit worse, all because she doesnt have children. She had her hyserectomy in April of 2005, she met a wonderful man and they married in Sept. of 2006. Her best friend "was" going t obe her surrogate but they arent talking now because she thought my sister should date him for 5-6 years and then marry. I know most of us here dont believe that that is important. When you love someone, you dont need to wait. Many of us here on Visa Journey have not been able to do the "dating thing" for that amountof time.

Anyway, they are looking into adoption now. I know you will get back into the swing of things in no time.

Ive had surgery before but simple surgery. Nothing major like this. I know the faster i get off the pain meds the better i will feel and i plan to do so, i have a high tolerance for pain so it wont be too bad. i appreciate all of your support and words

I think the guy sometimes just doesnt understand what this sometimes means to a woman. THe body will have to make changes is wasnt ready to and be off balance for a while. Its something they see as unknown areas and leaves them a little scared and maybe not knowing the correct thing to say. I imagine some days there will be a "personality" change that you wont know were it came from, explain this to him early that some days you maynot be your old self, but it will get better.

I also have a high tolerance for pain and believe me, I didn't feel that much pain so I took maybe an Advil once in a while, but didn't take any prescribed medicine

Yea that we already spoke about My doctor had me on chemically induced menopause so weve experienced some of the changes just not in full. So hes prepared for that, as i am. I just dont think hes 100% prepared and he isnt letting himself realise it all right now. Prolly monday at the hospital he will or a week from now. Not sure, but hes supportive and understanding, thats a plus for him.

Im going to go take a nap with my son, we been up a LONG time teehee.
