So today I got my citizenship certificate and I'm thinking about going to the Post Office and apply for a passport. I wanted to know, do they send the certificate back with the passport or in a separate envelope? Also, Is it smart for me to go ahead and apply for a passport now or should I wait? my Plan is apply for passport and then once I have it go the SS office and update my SSN. Is there anything (that requires me to have my certificate) I should do before applying for a passport?

congrats.

When you apply the will send the passport and any evidence you submit in separate mailings. Whichever you choose to do 1st will not make any difference as long as you have the supporting documents at the time of your request.

The rule of thumb is to wait about 10 days prior to updating the SSA but - i did mine all within days.

Do you guys know if I need my Certificate to register to vote?

You'll need proof of citizenship to update Social Security, register to vote, update your drivers license... you can use the certificate or the passport as proof of citizenship. You can do this now with your certificate or wait until you get it and your passport in the mail.

If you've changed your name, you'll need the name change certificate too.
