Hi everyone!

I got an update on my EAD, but before i get excited I wanted to ask you guys if this really means what I think it means. The update says

"We ordered your new card for Receipt number..... and will mail it to the address you gave us."

Does this really mean I get my EAD now?

I am confused because it doesnt say it was apporved or anything. And also why does it say "new card" when I never had one before?

2012: met the woman of my life

June 2014: filed I-129F

May 2015: visa in hand - got married (L)

June 2015: filed I-485 and I-765

October 2015: EAD

November 2015: Potential Interview Waiver Notice

February 2016: AOS Case transferred to San Francisco office

March 2016: GC in hand (no interview)

We received our green card today. I suppose since we never received the EAD/AP card, it was because they knew the resident card would be approved and we didn't need anything else. Our NOA 1 date was June 19, 2015 so getting an interview waiver and green card in less than 4 months should give everyone hope that this process can move quickly and without notice. I will also mention that our I129f process lasted nearly 9 months, with our embassy interview at 12 months, and then needing additional paperwork which took an additional 7 months. We started our process in August 2013. So it took us a total of 2 years and 1 month to get to this milestone. Here is a summary of our AOS process:

  1. We used an attorney, who made errors on all three of our applications including birth date, name, and address. We had to use our biometric appointment to make all of the corrections on all three applications. But, the attorney was otherwise a great help.
  2. NOA 1 on June 19, 2015
  3. Biometrics on July 16, 2015
  4. Approval of our resident card on September 30, 2015
  5. Received approval notice on October 5, 2015
  6. Received green card on October 7, 2015
  7. We asked our US Senator's office to make inquiries into our case. He was able to get a response from USCIS about what was going on with our three applications. The final word from them was that we would hear something back before October 10, 2015.
  8. We never received a letter from USCIS that we were a possible interview waiver. It was just a surprise on September 30 that our card was in production.
  9. The green card came priority mail, but not with a tracking number that we could follow; however, the USCIS website changed our status from "Card mailed" to "Card delivered"; so I guess they had a tracking number that wasn't shared to us. The card took 5 days, including weekend, to arrive here from the time it was sent. USCIS told us to expect the card between October 31 and November 30; so I guess they give themselves a cushion for any delays.
  10. We never had an RFE in the process. I believe our attorneys were thorough making sure we had all of our documentation.

I want to thank everyone for sharing your journeys. It really helped keep me sane, knowing things were happening with others and hearing about your individual stories. And of course, I wish all of you best travels in your journey.

Congrats! You'll probably receive your card in 5-7 days. Mine said card ordered, then later that day changed to EAD approved. A couple days later said card mailed.
