Thanks, hope it will not take too long! They couldn't varify my immigration status means(EAD), so have to do the same thing SSA did to issue my ssn. Don't really understand how this is possible that nobody can varify our statuses without any problem....

STATE DMVs used to not have this electronic verification process until the REAL ID Act was passed and implemented recently(running our info on SAVE like SSA does). Just creates more unnecessary frustration and time consumption on our end while we try to get on with our lives :(

NY is one of the handful of states that are still not compliant with the REAL ID Act so hopefully I won't run into this problem when I go to the DMV.

:( At least I know now, I'm not the only one. I was starting to think it's discrimination, because me and my wife are a gay couple.

Don't let that get you down. We are a gay couple, too... they won't treat our cases any differently. :)

We are also a gay couple and have had no RFE's. Day 83 today and haven't heard a thing. Don't know what to think at this point. But, yesterday we got our Senator's office involved; again. But, I am happy so many of you have been successful.

We are also a gay couple :-)

The only problem I am having is I sent a service request to change my address from New York to New Jersey on August 26 and its been with an officer since. The funny thing is they changed my wife address on September 3 and we got the letter in the mail but mine still no changes. I called Immigration they put in a second service request also expedited it. Its assigned to officer and still no changes...

Congrats, and good luck at DMV!

I hope they will call me sometime next week as well so I can come back again!

By the way guys, who knows, when you apply for a state ID, f o they issue it right away or you have to wait untill they mail it to you? Cause I remember waited for my permit in Texas abt a week till they sent it...

There are a lot of people with RFE that already have their EAD though. Even people who filed and got the RFE after me. I just think it's weird that most cases are processed in order, who ever filed first gets their EAD first, but our case is like out of line

Most states give you a Interm ID (without photo) that you can use until the actual ID comes in the mail.

My wife was born and raised in NJ so I'll ask her tonight and report back :)
