Hi guys, so I received two letters regarding our SSN for me and my son, it says that they varified our datas Sept.1st, and we should receive our cards withing 2 weeks, I thought the lady I spoke to at the SSA, said we should receive the actual cards these days, but seems she meant the letters only..... Again have to wait?

I don't know why now system needs to verify our card before they decide to issue something. Two years ago, when I first time applied for my SSN, I got my number at the same time same day. And the card was mailed a week later. They should understand that we need SSN and DL to apply job and work. By the way, I just got first pay check today and really happy about it. Almost back to work in 2 weeks. Hope everything will be smooth and easier for all of us.

Can you explain more for me about your case? You said that you applied SSN a year ago? why now you have to re-apply it while you already got one in last year. So you would have 2 Social Security Number?

it looks like you applied the same day you received the combo card so the SAVE database wasn't updated to verify you electronically at the office.

They had to send out a Form G-845(which has a 10~20 business day turnaround time) to USCIS for further verification for your case.

I did some digging around USCIS and decided to wait a few days to prevent this 4 week downtime after reading this:

UPDATE: went back to SSA today and they wrote down the SSN for me and card was being mailed out later today

Just read a few pages from April 2015 filers and know that there are many filers already got their GC on hand. Hopefully, June filers like us will get the interview notice in this month. Can't wait!
