Big day in the process for us! We had our interview today and right before leaving for it, I checked the online status and it showed that our EAD / AP had been approved and the card was under production!

On to the interview - I will do a better review of this for the local office, but I felt it was a painless process! Smiles all around, and a few basic questions about how we met, our wedding, families, and friends. We also were asked some questions about the types of things together. She requested for our lease for our apartment (with both our names), and also some other evidence (we provided joint credit card bills, medical, rental and auto insurance). She also kept a few of the pictures we had when we insisted we did not need them back. At the end, we were told to expect our conditional green card to arrive in 4-6 weeks though she noted that it could be quicker because things had been moving quite fast recently!! Music to our ears!!

We have been really fortunate in this process and for all others in the process waiting for their interview, I would say to not worry too much and have the required documents listed on the interview sheet. Thereafter, legitimate couples should have no issues! Stay calm, relaxed, and answer every question simply and honestly. Good luck to everyone!!

You got your Green Card in approved in less than 2 months? How is that possible? I thought the process took more than a year.

I filed in July and got my EAD/AP for my fiance in 7 weeks, but now you have me worried because you got your GC approved already. Not jealous - just worried that something is wrong with my case because the GC paperwork hasn't been touched.

What's the average time from applying to Green Card?

And I am even more worried because I haven't put her on the lease yet (renewal is in December) but I do have her on my insurance and separate joint bank account.

This is so aggravating - first stuff too long, and now it's too quick to get anything done properly.

feeling_hopeful, i think the processing times of AOS are different for everyone because as far as i know they are being processed in local offices. for instance my office says they are processing applications from september 2014. so i dont expect to hear anything for at least another 6 months... i guess some people are just lucky because their offices dont have too many applications

you can look it up on here https://egov.uscis.gov/cris/processTimesDisplayInit.do

hi lorvin,

thanks for your advice.

i called again yesterday and again the lady wouldnt connect me to a tier 2. but she was actually really nice and said that i am outside normal processing times and that i can put in a service request (case inquiry) myself on the website. i did that, so we will see if that helps... hope i hear something today or tomorrow.

Hope this kicks it loose for you. I heard quite quickly after I put in the request at 76 days. Good luck!

Same here. October for our local office. But think about it guys - having AP and EAD gives you all the same assurances as GC and if the GC takes 2 years to be approved from your wedding date you could go straight to 10 year card and no need to remove conditions. The only draw back is refilling for EAD and AP to keep them currant while we continue to wait.

AP does not give you the same security as GC. It should - but not necessarily.

I haven't been around for a while, things have been crazy here, but I did receive an update last night through email - my AP was approved. EAD will take longer as I had to re-file it (USCIS lost my initial paperwork).

Maybe you should call USCIS to make sure they sent it to your current address?

I suggest you call, this happened with someone in the April thread and when she called turns out they had the mail sitting down claiming they did not know where to send it. After she made the call they then forwarded it to her correct address

I called and they did send it to the wrong address. We do have mail forwarding set up so we're hoping it makes an appearance. Unfortunately this is what happens when you move a lot :( Called the postal office where it says it was forwarded and all they said was what the tracking said. If we don't get it by next Friday I'm supposed to call back. Good thing it's just the AP I'm really anxious for!

Met 2008. Moved in together 2010. Married 2015. Baby Z joined us 2017 .

As long as you are here legally (in status) before you leave you shouldn't have any problem traveling with AP - at least that's the common take per many threads by members on here. The fine print on GC also gives the government the ability to deny reentry - again definitely not the norm if the holder maintains their status.

My AOS will hit 60 days next week without any notice since it has been ready to schedule for an interview. I plan to file a e-request if there is no update for a long time. Why they process AOS is too long? I had waited for my visa become current almost 2 years and now I have to wait another year for AOS. My life is full of immigration waiting time.

I did a test run on Case Tracker application to see how many people that have the filed date later than mine.

I run from MSC1591208981 to MSC159120999 and know there are alot appilcants that already got their interview day scheduled. Looks like it is not first come first serve.
