Just to clarify, is a walk-in where you have an appointment set up but you go in before that in the hope that they'll just do the biometrics early and get it done and over with?

Does it help with timings at all?

The K1 journey:                                                                                                                             The AOS journey:

11/09/2013 - I-129F Packet mailed to Dallas Lockbox                                                                                         06/22/2015 - AOS packet mailed to Chicago Lockbox

02/14/2014 - Case shipped to Embassy, where it waited for over a year at my request                                 11/07/2015 - AOS approved (EAD and AP had already been approved) - there was no interview

05/21/2015 - Interview - Approved

06/19/2015 - Wedding (L)

The ROC journey:

10/12/2017 - ROC packet mailed to VSC

01/21/2019 - ROC Approved - there was no interview

The N-400 journey:

02/16/2020 - N-400 application filed online

02/21/2020 - Paper NOA received in the mail

03/13/2020 - Biometrics

02/02/2021 - Interview & test - Approved

02/05/2021 - Oath Ceremony

I'm not sure it will help with timings, but sometime people just can't make it on the date USCIS scheduled for them, and they give it a try for early walk in, it's usually successful but also depends from their offices and workers...

It will depend how busy and croudy your office are. Our office in NJ, Elizabeth, was very croudy, there were so many people, I thought we're gonna stay there forever, but everybody moved pretty much quickly, so we just got back it took us exactly 1,5 hr to get everything done!

I had only my son's and mine ID, USCIS invitations, and marriage certificate, they took fingerprints only for me and pictures for both!

Now another part of waiting begins:)

Good luck tomorrow!

Anyone know what the timeline or hierarchy of events are after filing the AoS?

How long does it usually take from the first i-797c until I get the i-797?

From what I'm seeing it's Send in packet > Receive NOA1 > Receive Biometrics Letter > Do Biometrics appointment... after that, it really depends on whether you get a NPIW letter or not (though it seems most K1s do get them). Those applicants who DO get the letter are taking around 13 to 14 months (if not longer) until the Greencard is approved, with EAD and/or AP getting approved at around 90 days.

Oh, wow. That's a really long time until EAD/AP is approved.

Thanks for the reply!
