Yet another touch on the case (update) yet it's still in Administrative Processing with no word on it. The worst thing in the world is knowing that everything is there at the embassy and the interview is over, yet you have no idea if you were approved or not. I was hoping to hear something from them, even if it just states that they now have everything and they are reviewing it. Here's to hoping I hear something by the end of the business day in Sydney. :clock:

This journey isn't easy...we went over many hurdles along the way... We are together now, 4 years going strong... It's never impossible, it is a matter of having the strength and love to conquer all things along the way!

My fiancée passed interview at Manila Embassy last Tuesday (9/22). I have been checking the visa status daily at WWW.CEAC.GOV. The case updated on 9/23 and 9/24, nothing happened on Friday (9/25) and I checked today the case creation date became 9-28-2015 and the status is still showing "Ready". However, the description changed to "Your case is open. Please check your status two business days via the CEAC launch page to http://ceac.state.gov/CEAC/."

Is this good news or is very bad news? :huh2::huh2: :huh2:

This is good news, it means that you went from immigrant to non-immigrant if you have a new case creation date. If you look up at the top of the box, it should now say non-immigrant. Check back each day and you should see either another round of administrative processing or issued! You are in the home stretch :)

I am moving within less than a month,

What will I need to do when I get there?

What I think I know so far:

1) Go to the SSN office and apply for a SSN.

2) When I get my SSN we can go get a marriage certificate? How long will it take to get my SSN? Or do we not have to wait for my SSN to get married?

Will need: Passport, International birth certificate. Anything else?

3) GET MARRIED AND ENJOY!!!!

4) Apply for AOS?

5)???

You don't need your ssn for marriage :) proof of identity in multiple forms and your visa should suffice.

Thanks, yeah I only have JUST realized this change, and I actually do have a new Case Creation date. Why was it changed to Non-Immigrant anyways?

We are an immigrant/non-immigrant mixed breed if you will. Basically we do not fit into any category so we start off doing the immigrant process and then we switch to non-immigrant up until the foreign half enters the us on the K-1 where they again become an immigrant... It is silly but we are a category all our own! Feel special because you are considered unique! ;)

For me it took exactly 1 week to get my visa after my interview.

Your country is a bit bigger so I suppose 2 weeks max, don`t book your ticket before you have your visa in hand though, just in case it gets lost or something.

Thanksgiving is 25th of November so you`ll definitely be able to spend thanksgiving with your partner :D

Congrats on passing the interview!

I myself am leaving here on October 25th, right in time for halloween and pumpkin carving :D

The steps for getting the SSN is at my website below, at the twisting arrow. There are some fine points you need to pay attention to but for the post part, it's an easy and painless process. AOS process and Naturalization topics are also there. Good luck.
