N-400 June 2015 Filers

Had applied for citizenship in June 2015, fingerprinting in July 2015, finally got my interview in July 2016 and went for it. Passed the test but they said a decision cannot be made at this time as I have another file? She had no idea what that meant and where the file was except stated that it says NEW on the file. States has to request the other file and consolidate it and review it before taking a decision. Anyone knows what this means? How long it takes(she said should not be long).

I vaguely remeber that my A number was changed in USCIS and they allotted a new number to me during the green card process. Does this have anything to do.

The same thing happened to another applicant on here a few years ago. Unfortunately I don't remember any details other than that the applicant had 2 A numbers and they had to request the second one to make sure there wasn't anything in the immigration record that would result in a denial. Don't know how long it took or what the outcome was. Regardless, USCIS has 120 days from the day of your initial interview to make a decision. They may go beyond this, but that's the limit allotted to them by law.

Filling this out late - Thank you for getting this thread going OP.

I haven't received any updates since NOA. I filed a service request in March 2016 to check the status of my case, and was promised a reply by July 20th, 2016 (120 days). That day has passed and yet no updates. I am worried that opening a new service request will mean another 120 day delay.

Studying the table below, it looks like all applications filed after June 25, 2015 are pending. Wonder if USCIS changed their policies around that time?

I think I am the last person from June 2015 still waiting around for my N-400 Naturalization.

 

Here is what has gone wrong so far:

1) USCIS never mailed / mail lost in transit for my biometric appointment. 

2) After waiting patiently for 6 months, I finally called USCIS.

2) I opened 2 tickets on USCIS customer support phone line and an agent called me back after 100ish days.  He promised I will be schedule for biometric soon.

3) 60 days passed and nothing happened, so I opened 2 more tickets on USCIS customer support. 

4) 90 days later one kind agent finally figured out how to reschedule an appointment.  I did my biometric in Dec 2016.

5) I took my interview in May 2017.  Two issues that came up were a $520 car-towed traffic ticket back in 2005, and a traffic ticket for passing on yellow for 2009.  Interviewer asked me for a receipt for 2005 ticket, and I didn't have it.  She mentioned that she will have to review the case since car ticket was over $500, and let me know that a decision cannot be made at this time.

6) Nothing has happened in past 6 months.  No RFI, no letter, no updates on USCIS portal.  I called USCIS CS L2 officers and they could not see any updates on their system either.

 

 

After waiting around for 28 months, I feel like I need to do something to get my application moving again.  Does anyone know who is a congressional aide for Atlanta area applicants?  Is there anyone else I should talk to?

I'm sorry for all your delays; that's terrible. Did you try and contact your Representative? I contacted mine, and they were surprisingly responsive. Their office put a direct contact into USCIS for me, and I did get a response (essentially saying background checks continued and they take longer than normal). But maybe coincidentally, my approval came through only 2 months after that. If anything, it makes you feel like something is happening!
