N-400 June 2015 Filers

Hello Friends - I finally got an email update from USCIS after my bio-metrics in last year July. And the irony is that I was preparing to move from my current job. I resigned in the morning today and right after I got this update from USCIS. I will be here till the end of this month but I am not sure what the date of interview is. I am waiting for the letter. Can I called USCIS and ask for the date?

What happens if I move? I will be just 4 hours drive away from my current USCIS field office. I can drive on my interview and oath dates. Do I still have to let USCIS know that I am moving? Will they reschedule my interview at a local office where I am moving to? And if yes then I am sure this will take longer time.

Please guide me on what should I do.

Can someone also update my case status here?

On April 4, 2016, we scheduled an interview for your Form N400, APPLICATION FOR NATURALIZATION, Receipt Number **********. We will mail you an interview notice. Please follow any instructions in the notice. If you move, go to www.uscis.gov/addresschange to give us your new mailing address.

As a permanent resident, you are required to file an AR-11 change of address form within 10 days of moving.

You should also update your address for your case.

Are you sure that your new area falls under a new office? If so, I think you should schedule an Infopass appointment and explain the situation in person. They'll tell you whether your case needs to be transferred or not. My guess would be yes, but I'm not sure. You could do what you suggest; just drive to the interview, but when you tell them your new address (which you'll have to do), they may tell you that you're out of their area of jurisdiction. You'll probable get your letter in the next week or two and the interview is usually scheduled for 3-5 weeks after you get the letter, so I suggest you schedule an appointment now, for some time after you know you'll have the letter (let's say 3 weeks from now).

I don't think USPS forwards USCIS mail... USCIS asks the post office to return mail if the recipient has moved. It may still get forwarded in some cases, but they're supposed to return it.

I'm not sure whom to ask is they allow same day oath. should i call the local office and find out?

She did mention that i takes around 1 and half month to get oath letter.

I had my interview in march at Santa Ana, and I am waiting for my oath letter too.

I did not ask to IO about how long I have to wait for the letter.

Hugh had his interview at the St. Paul Field office (confusingly located in the city of Bloomington) on March 28th. We stayed overnight at the Hampton Inn...our room looked out at the USCIS office. It was the perfect place to stay for an 8:30 AM appointment. No worries about traffic.

He passed.

The oath is scheduled for April 25th.

BTW, USCIS is moving its office to a much-more-convenient location downtown Minneapolis sometime this year. I wonder if it will still be called the St. Paul office then. Probably. Common sense just like common decency is an unknown quantity with this outfit.

Thank you guys for replying. I think I am going to wait for the notice and see if the interview date is before my move out date. In that way I can at least complete my interview. I will update my new address as soon as I have one.

That not true buddy.. I changed my job in January this year, yesterday I had my interview and i was approved.

The VO just asked the new employer name thats it.

Just let you know, if you go to processing time for N400 at Santa Ana, the oldest case is from August 2015. In other words, you were the oldest one, I guest!

I was thinking, so your oath ceremony is after May 5, 2016?

Because it said: "If you do not receive your notice by May 5, 2016, please go to www.uscis.gov/e-request to request a copy of the notice."

In other words, the ceremony in April at Santa Ana is already full!!

This system generated email just tells you to contact them if you haven't received a notice 1 month from the date of the letter.

The oath could be scheduled for next week, but it'll still say 5/5 because it was updated on 4/5.
