Great news, overall. When is your date of travel?

Went to the passport agency this morning for my 8:30 appointment. They processed my application and said I could come back to pick up the passport tomorrow at 12 Noon. I was grateful for that because it meant I didn't have to hang around the cold and rainy downtown all day for a same-day pickup.

Strangely, they said they could not issue the Passport Card locally and that it will be mailed to my home from Tucson AZ. That's fine, as long as I have my passport in hand tomorrow the card can arrive later.

Interesting. The Chicago Passport Agency policy is to so same day passport for next day travel. Only condition is that application must have been accepted by them before 11am.

Tomorrow, 7:30 PM to Vancouver via Seattle.

Bureaucracies usually don't display much consistency or logic. That said, for a government agency these folks were surprisingly customer-service oriented. It was not a DMV-like experience. If they actually have my passport ready at Noon today as promised, I will not complain.

Oath scheduled for 11/18/2015, please update. :-)

I'll give a detailed report of the interview when I return. I'm in Phoenix right now. Stressful day yesterday; naturalization interview and then fly across the country right afterwards for work!

Curious... Are they presently holding your naturalization certificate, or did they return it to you yesterday?

They had my passport waiting for me at 12 Noon today as promised. They held onto my certificate overnight and duly returned it to me today along with the passport. Unlike kovacs who got his passport card the same day as well, mine they said would need to be mailed to me in a couple weeks from Tucson.

I then went straight to the airport, to the Global Entry office, and had them update my GE account with the new US passport before proceeding to the gate. That way I can use my new passport at the GE kiosk when I return home (yes, home!!!) on Sunday.

Oh Canada, here I come now...

It seems to me that it is not scheduled yet, but just in line. Now I am just hoping not to be stuck in line for a couple of months

I misread your messge. If it make you feel any better, in the NYC office people spend only 2-4 days in line for oath. Hopefully your local office is similar.

I spoke to an immigration lawyer friend and he said it can take as long as 30-90 days in field offices where they have a high volume of applicants because they serve many counties and/or perform majority of their ceremonies offsite. In the DC field office in northern VA, they conduct quite a number of ceremonies at local schools so they only do them a few times per month.
