Went to the USCIS office in Philly for my infopass appt. Explained that I need my residency extended to allow me to travel to Ireland. Got a I 551 stamp on my passport valid till a year from now. They hold on to your 2 yr green card in exchange. I still have my extention letter, but thats not needed now when travelling. I should be able to get a visit visa to Ireland now with this stamp on my passport.

The lady handling my case told me that the extention letter extends the validity of residency by a year from the expiry date of the Green Card, NOT the extention letter receipt date. This was contrary to what I was told by USCIS customer service on the phone and by the irish embassy who were not going to process my visit visa. She just shook her head and stuck to her opinion, and said getting the passport stamp would solve my issues.

I agreed and moved on. Thought I'd update for those interested.

  • 2 weeks later...

So we got an RFE, despite including evidence of several joint holidays, two car loans and evidence that we have a joint account and filled joint taxes.

So what do we do to get affidavits from friends, my wife already owned the house so only her name is on it, we have a joint account but she uses her old account form texas because it already had all of her payments set up on it.

Not sure what else we can include, after 9 months of doing nothing its a pain, an interview would be much easier. any other suggestions, on what to get evidence wise or the process of getting affidavits.

Ask your friends and family to write a letter about what they know about the two of you. They could even include specific occasions that you guys did stuff together that could be memorable. Have it notarized. Also send them pictures. Lots of pictures. Preferably pictures where you guys are out in public and with other friends and family in them as well. If you guys have exchanged love letters or things like that in the past even like Christmas cards, send copies of those. Also you could send proof that you guys filed taxes jointly for 2016. I hope it helps.

Hi,

I understand your frustration. When did you submit your file and where did you submit it?

For RFE, doesn't the form usually indicate what they want from you?

Can you look for additional evidence such as joint health insurance, evidence of filing tax returns jointly, etc. I understand that they like to see these "legal" and "solid' evidences.

I am so sorry about your RFE. But look at the good side of the situation. At least your case has been processed. I am just wondering if your cases has been randomly picked up from the piles with June fillers or Vermont started working on June cases over all? Any other June approvals or RFS?

Hello everyone!

I'm not here to add anything of value, I just need to vent at the lack of progress with VSC....

I know there's really no point calling them, which is even more frustrating....I see some May cases are moving.

I tried calling them to find out about my case status about 2-3 weeks ago. The representative provided me with the same information that I can find myself online. The agent then told me that there is a delay and it is taking longer than usual to process the cases. He said to wait for 2.5 more months.

June 1st filer, got RFE last week.

Vermont Service Center

Hi, June 1st at Vermont Service Center?

If you don't mind me asking, what's the RFE for, what's the missing information that they are requesting?

Calling may be not completely useless. I guess it all depends who will pick up the phone at the other end. Some agents give information, some don't. We all know that there is a delay but at the same time obviously VSC started working on June cases from last week which means they are not that much far behind. It looks like they are working on April, May and June cases all at once. Good luck to everyone.

First I provided: car title/insurance / medical insurance w/ both names on. Cable bill, electric bill, lease and pictures. I was a little lazy and thought that would be enough but apparently not.

This time i provided: birth certificate for baby, tax docs, another lease, credit cards, life insurance. I hope this is enough. We don't have a shared bank account just credit card with the other one as user.

The most important thing is to show financial co-mingling.They don't really care about pictures.

I'm a late May filer (but early June NOA1) with case assigned to Vermont. Got notice today that my 10-yr GC is in production. Letter was dated 3-16-16 (I've been away on business, not sure how long it was in my mailbox).

But here's something interesting. I recently moved and filed a change of address form with USCIS. I received a letter dated March 10th (but postmarked March 16th!) that says that my request to change my address was being forwarded to the USCIS office having jurisdiction over my case... the California Service Center. But I am a Vermont filer, and was never told that my case was being transferred to CSC.

Not sure if that puts me in the VSC or CSC group, but here is my timeline:

VJName..............Date of I-751...NOA1 Date....Biometrics.....Approved
DRHD..................05/24/15......06/01/15......07/23/15......03/16/16 (Bio originally scheduled from 6/29)
