Is it true that most of the temporary job agencies here in USA ask for a fee in order to give you a list of potential

companies who are looking for an amployee?

Can anybody suggest a good temporary job agency where he/she got the job through?

I used to work in an office back in my country, so I'm looking for a position as secretary; can anyone according his/her

own personal experience suggest the best way in order to find a job in an office?

The temporary job agencies might be a good idea to try with in order to work in an office?

Thanks alot to anybody's reply!!!!!

I got my job I am doing now through a temp agency.... I never had to pay them anything... I found it a good way to get references here in the US.... I looked up staffing agencies on-line for my area and then I just called and asked a few questions and then went and did some tests and was offered work starting the next week, I was with them for 3 months, my last job with them was the job I am doing now.. I was offered a full time job with the company but I had to continue to work for the temp agency for a set number of hours before my employment could begin with my now employer...

Good Luck in your search

Manpower and Kelly Services

There will be many local staffing agencies as well. I don't know exactly where you are, but assuming "Chicago" is close, then look here:

http://www.google.com/search?q=chicago+sta...lient=firefox-a

I've worked with Temp/Staffing agencies for a few years now. Most agencies in the US don't charge the employee; they charge the employer. If you are getting paid $15/hour, the company is paying the agency $18/hour or so.

I searched Manpower and found 24 listings for "Office" in "Chicago". I'm sure you'll find something.

Lady, people aren't chocolates. Do you know what they are mostly? Bastards. ####### coated bastards with ####### filling. But I don't find them half as annoying as I find naive bobble-headed optimists who walk around vomiting sunshine.

Hi Daphne,

Temp agencies usually don't charge a fee are good for reference . I worked with Kelly Services for a few months and was OK, didn't have to pay any fees to them. You can work with a temp while you look for a permanent job (that's what I did ;) )

Good luck!

DO NOT pay fees. In some cities that's more common, but it's a bad bad sign. There are PLENTY of other places that won't charge you and those places are more professional and probably more successful.

As long as you're not paying a fee, it's a good way to get a job. I've done it.

Unless I'm mistaken, the temp svc will just take a cut of the pay....like you'll be making x/hr but they'll be getting x+z/hr.

It's true. I had a job where I made 16/hr and the temp agency got paid 30/hr, so they kept 14 and I got 16. But it's SO MUCH easier to get a job through those agencies. Especially when you're starting out and your work authorization is a little different from the usual greencard or citizenship.
